When you write an article, you want the search engines to pick it up. The search engine is most likely to pick up your article if:

1. It is relevant to a search being made by an individual.

2. Both the article and the title contains useful information identified by search terms or keywords relevant to a search.

If you article links to your site, your site or landing page had better have relevant information with the same relevant keywords in the title and text.

I use the JAXXY Keyword tool and I look for a QSR of fewer than 400 competitive sites. I believe that Carson said he likes fewer than 300 sites. If you obey this criteria, you improve your chances of landing on the front page. Nice!

Also, your keyword phrase should have a reasonable search count. If people are not using the keyword phrase, then what good is it? It won't bring you much traffic, will it? l like at least 100 visits each month.

As I dig for keywords I keep putting the words listed back into the search function. Pretty soon I have a fairly large lists of keywords with a green light. I love those with an SEO of over 90.

Then I look for domains but only those that are .com or .org. Kyle and Carson say to stay away from hyphens. Something to do with those pesky search engines.

Once you have your domain you can use the keywords in your article and you should sprinkle them around to a density of about one percent. However, Carson told me that the search engines are looking for any such keyword stuffing. I seldom break this protocol. In fact, I often have too few keywords. The words in and article should add something to it. So, I like the rule, in the title, in the first paragraph and the last paragraph. Well, maybe that is my rule.

Here is a plug for Street Articles. They will keep you straight. If you don't comply to their guidelines, they will boot you. They will warn you at every infraction and they will boot you. I know this because I wasn't watching my email with a warning and I got the StreetArticles kick in the pants. I had to go crying to Carson to get back on. That was when SA just got started.

How humiliating!

John

I'll have to keep in mind untentionally over-using keywords, since I'm still learning SEO. I do recall the first and last paragraph suggestion from somewhere.

No, Amy, it didn't break. That was the problem. No replacement business. A great product that curtailed sales for replacements. I thank you for reading my stuff. John
