Pay-Per-Click Advertising is one of the most reliable ways to makemoney online...if done right. Basically what you are doing when is paying for clicks, and how much you pay for each click will depend on the network in which you are advertising, the niche you are in, the competition, and the quality of your campaigns.

The Crazy World of PPC

The last few years have been tumultuous ones in the PPC realm with many people getting suspended via Google Adwords, Facebook Ads and some people even having a difficult time getting listed with MSN Adcenter (Bing and Yahoo).

In fact, between 2010-2012, Google had shut down over ONE MILLION advertiser accounts. This was a result in a "clean wipe" of almost all affiliate marketers. Instead of them cherry picking through millions of advertisers, they decided to perform a mass account suspension, frustrating a lot of marketers.

Things have since settled down a bit, but there are still some very important things you need to understand before entering the PPC world. These will be discussed within this training.

PPC is a Game of Math

The key to beingsuccessful in PPC advertising is to make sure that your expenses areless than your revenue.

It really is just simple math. Your goal is to spend less in advertising costs (click charges), then you earn. Your earnings could be through affiliate programs, CPA programs, lead programs or through your own product.

Let's take an example here.

Say you are advertising under a keyword that costs you $0.50 per click. You are selling an product (whether your own or an affiliate product) on your website that pays you a profit of $30 per sale. To break even within this campaign, you need to make a sale every 60 clicks ($30 / $0.50). Any conversion rate better than 1:60, will earn you a positive revenue, or a positive ROI. Anything less than 1:60 will earn you a negative reveune, or a negative ROI.

Successful PPC marketers can earn a lot of money, and do so in a consistent manner. The great part about a successful campaign within the PPC world is that once you set up a profitable one, it will typically continue to remain profitable. This is because the traffic is predictable and the conversion rates typically remain stable across most industries.

To succeed with PPC Marketing, you need to understand several principles starting from setting up your PPC accounts, to research aspects (keyword, audience, product), campaign creation, landing page creation, and analysis and testing. These will all be covered within this training.

@ hantaah

1) This I can agree on. The correct way to setup a PPC campaign is outlined here in Kyle's tutorial. I'll need to research it more before making any decisions. Test my website for the first month or 2 and see what I can do with SEO first.

2)To this I also agree.

3)True, but if I start generating free organic traffic first, then when I use PPC to supplement my efforts, could it possibly damage the work I've accomplished by investing time into SEO If I make any mistakes?

4)By testing an affordable loss, what exactly do you mean by that?
Reply
hantaah Premium
3 - you cannot damage seo work done with ppc but you can use methods to make the both compliment each other and use ppc to help your seo. I watched a video on it before I'll tru=y and see if I can find it and send it to you

4 - it is invitable, especially when starting up that you will loose on some of your bids, ie say you bid £2 on a load of keywords and in total you paid £30 and you got no sales, that's a loss and sometimes you may not know until you've tested it so it's important you test at an affordabe rate ie a test costing £10 ( that's an affordable loss ) yet a loss of £80 - £100 is not really an affordable loss that's loosing too much.

I only kept my loss at an affordable rate due to the initial coupons the £75 free for the first £25 spent then with the valuable data earned from google ie the keyword groups that do the best and the best prices to bid for I transfered over to bing and had another pop with a further £50 voucher. Each step you go your improoving your keywords and click through rates and bidding values etc etc and the improvement brings much more success and less spenditure

4 questions concerning PPC campaigns.

1) Can you use it for both a traffic solution for your website AND to make a quick buck via article marketing?

2) if things get too hairy or I make a mistake somewhere and I end up spending more than I'm earning, can the campaign be suspended while adjustments are made or aborted completely f it turns into a complete disaster?

3) How relevant even is PPC anymore in this day of google authorship, quality content, and organic traffic (traffic produced by quality content right?) compared to back in the day of blatant Grey Hat SEO tactics? Obviously PPC is designed to generate traffic but if you have good content to keep the readers occupied in the first place then you'll get traffic and get ranked anyways so what's the point?

4) Since I do have money to invest in a PPC campaign, will PPC give me any sort of advantage in getting ranked and if so is it advised I should consider setting one up for my web page as soon as possible?
Reply
hantaah Premium
1 - yes it can be used as a quick source of traffic to anywhere you choose. There is an art to it though, do it wrong and you will loose money

2 - You really have to be careful and know what your doing and you have to constantly monitor your campaigns. If not you could be in shock. You can pause your campaigns and change them whenever appropriate.

3 - ppc is very relevant if you want quick direct results sometimes seo can take up to 3 months to work and there is never a shortage of paid traffic.

4 - You are lucky you have some set aside for this but you need to test your campaign when you first start until you get the gist but the idea is to test at an affordable loss ( so you don't loose a lot at first )

If you want to make money now and you have the means to so ppc then you should but you should with caution and learn about the ppc building blocks first.

My first ppc campaign I lost £83 and made nothing. I did it completely wrong. After I did the course " your first 3 months on adwords " by Iain dooley I spent £30 and made £100 and then the following months are an improvement due to his methodology of optimising and getting the most for your money out of you clicks, ie pay as little as possible for your clicks.

Don't forget google is iverflowing. Bing ad words are a lot cheaper. If I were you I's do Iain Dooleys course, spend the first month on adwords making sure you loose at an affordable rate then then once you have all the valuable data transfer over to bing

Also you can use codes for £75 free adwords coupons when you start then when you transfer over to bing they will give you a £50 coupon and that's how I saved myself from a loss

Hi, I'm struggling to understand how money generated from promotional ads or the pay per click via my website comes from and where it goes? Do I need a special account to store this money for withdrawal? I'm new and want to understand the mechanics of it :) thanks in advance for any explanations -Bill

I have spent some time breaking down the process in the most simplistic way possible. Success online is at the core a 4 step process and I have broken them down within this video:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-create-an-online-business-the-4-steps

Broken, down, the process looks like this:

Step 1: Choose your niche
Step 2: Build your website/content
Step 3: Get rankings in search engines (leads to traffic)
Step 4: Monetize your traffic

This applies in absolutely every niche and as you work through the training here at WA, you are going to be walked through this exact process. This is fundamental for ANY success online.

If you have any further questions let me know Bill. :)

Reply

You can use Jaaxy or the keyword tool here at WA (which is included in your membership). These both give you "exact" match results.
Reply
phope1127 Premium
I saw a method of targeting keywords by pasting the URL of your landing page/post into Google keyword Tool and then looking at the "exact" related keywords...picking the ones that have the highest searches and implementing them in your campaign. This, of course, would be an alternative to doing your own research with, say, Jaaxy.

The only thing is that I don't see an option with Keyword Planner to filter the keywords to "exact" matches. This use to be possible w/ Google's 'Keyword Tool', but I can't find the option within 'Keyword Planner'.

Any opinions on this method, or answers to the "exact" keyword problem?

Exact occurs anytime you use the " " around the search.

Kyle, what if you PPC a free ebook expecting folks to click on affiliate links in the ebook. A click would put them on the page to get the book by entering their email address. Could this possibly earn money? Tnx, Kyle. John

Yes, you can earn money through opt-in offers like this, however Google is not a fan of squeeze pages so you are better off using Facebook Ads or Bing Ads if you want to take this approach.

The best way to get examples is to get ideas by looking within your niche. See what other people are doing and check out review pages, help pages, etc. There are really no rules as everything niche is different. If you want feedback on your site at any time, let us know and we will be more than happy to help you out.

Reply

Glad this could help out Ty. PPC can be tricky and is not something that I recommend when starting out, but once you have a grasp of an industry and marketing (like you are accruing within your niche), you can start to move into PPC. It lets you choose keywords and as long as you are running a positive ROI campaign it can lead to maximum scalability.

Thanks for the training! I have been learning about free traffic since I became a member and I always wanted to try PPC out. I was on here and I decided to check out PPC and I must say it sounds too easy.

It also sounds interesting also! I think I am very good with keywords and relevant content. I want to try it out soon. I actually thought it would be hard at first. From this training it sounds totally different. Thanks!
Reply
Kyle Premium
The process for converting and success is always the same. Relevance converts.

Relevant keyword => Relevant PPC ad => Relevant Landing Page => Relevant Offer
Reply
kendrick Premium
Hey Kyle, since you do not look at monthly searches or QSR, how would you know about how much competition a PPC ad has? I am just curious right now.
Reply
Kyle Premium
PPC is different, you do want to make sure there is some traffic, but again, if the keyword is relevant and makes sense, sometimes it is good to go for it regardless. If a keyword gets 10 clicks per month and converts, it is worth having within an ad group.

But yeah, PPC is different in that often times you want to aim for relevant, but higher volume keywords. QSR does not matter as much.
Reply
interi Premium
great easy to understand info thanks
Reply
Mackem Premium
I get the logic - low QSR = low competition = lower click cost but I dont understand the relevance of monthly searches. If the monthly searches is low then I guess the number of times a add shows on Google will be low and the number of clicks will be minimal. So if the keyword is low QSR but low monthly searches it could take weeks (maybe months) to get any clicks. Does Google penalise (low quality score) adds which take a while to get any clicks?
Reply
Kyle Premium
QSR is for SEO, not PPC. In terms of monthly searches, you ideally want higher monthly searches and relevant keywords. You are not as concerned about QSR or the amount of natural competition. You want to see how much competition there is within the PPC network, you can check the rankings to see if there are ads under your search terms.

I am having a baby clothes e-shop where my return is very low between £4-8, so I was just wondering how could I make high ROI with $0.50 CPC if I have %5 CTR.......

I think in some businesses you can't make profit with PPC campaigns..... :(
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, if your break even doesn't make sense using PPC, then I would suggest that you work on getting free traffic. At some point you could leverage PPC as a pure branding measure a loss leader of sorts to continue your branding measures.

If your profit point is quite low I would not bother with PPC unless you are going to set your cost per click at a price that is suitable to a good profit.
Reply
Tinydot Premium
Within the scoring..Does google hold you back a bit until you have campaigns behind you? Then if all goes well one should expect better placement & pricing?
Reply
Kyle Premium
Yeah, you start at zero, you can either go up or go down, so the better the quality from the start, the quicker you can see better positioning and better pricing.

Reply

Yeah, I think we can expect some pretty consistent changes going forward, but nothing as crazy as the last 2 years. Systems like Facebook and Twitter will change, but I think overall there is not going to be any revolutionary breakthroughs as to behavior technologies being developed that we haven't already seen, just advancements of it.

As for keeping up to date, that is our utmost focus with OEP...you will see a lot more training, a lot more updates, and a lot more bleeding edge information. :)

One landing page per ad group ideally, the key is relevance so this rule may not always apply. Think from the visitors perspective, if they typed in any of the keywords from the ad group and came to your page would they feel as though they are on the most relevant page?

Reply

It really depends, I would aim for profit regardless of what that is. If you are profitable, you can scale. If you are not, then you cannot. Profit will vary based on the type of product and the type of return (digital typically has the highest returns), but it all comes down to getting your campaigns profitable and then scaling them.
