When I first started as an Amazon Affiliate, I was so green in this online marketing caper, I needed all the help I could get. Initially, my efforts to set up an Amazon store on my electronics website involved using an inline framed aStore. It was relatively easy to set up and, by using keyword searching related to my niche, the appropriate products appeared. I could customize the aesthetics and hey presto I had the makings of what I thought would look amazing on my website. But there was...

Problem #1 -

The first hurdle was working out how to insert this great looking store into my website. After some research (remember, I am a newbie at this point), I worked out that the code I had highlighted was to be inserted via text editor not visual editor.

Once I got this worked out, there was my aStore looking pretty cool. And I got so excited that I did three different aStores and was pretty chuffed with myself. I could set them up, insert them into a page and they looked fabulous as I worked away on my laptop. But then I discovered....

Problem #2 -

I thought that now that they were set up I would look at them on my trusty Samsung Galaxy Note 3. And then I saw that all that time I had put in was a great big waste of time. Amazon aStores work okay on a desktop but were not designed to be "responsive". In other words, they were did not fit all media used by shoppers, be that mobile, tablet or desktop. And so my aStore experimentation came to a screaming halt!

Amazon's Answer -

It was becoming obvious to Amazon that since an ever increasing number of people were shopping via mobile, they would introduce a number of new methods for marketers to monetise their websites and create a seamless shopping experience. In addition to Site Stripe, they have now introduced Native Shopping Ads. This tutorial will take us through the setting up of these ads.

The next page will discuss the three styles of Native shopping Ads...

This is about the 5th one of these I've read and I'm still not getting it right. It's not showing up on my page. I'm copying and pasting the code in text mode, saving the draft, going back to visual mode and seeing little boxes, but when previewing the page, no ad, no pictures, no link, just my text from the post. What am I doing wrong?

You must publish the page or post, it can't be in draft. Also, check using an incognito tab in Chrome or similar, or log out completely from your site.

Okay, I published it and still nothing. I'll try logging out and going that route and see if they are there.

Did you ever get it to work?

I did several and they looked great, then the next day half of them disappeared. I ended up having to do the recommended ads. Still looking for a better solution.

Sure did. I can't see it, but I asked a couple people to look on my site for me and it's there. I even logged out and went in as a "visitor," but glad it worked. Thanks :)

Hmm..wonder if mine were actually there too and I just couldn't see them. That seems weird. Thanks though. I may need to investigate further. Glad it seems to be working for you : )

I have no idea why I cannot get native ads to work on my site. I have tried for the past several months. I have tried with all the ad styles and have done exactly what you are doing. But they still will not show up. Very frustrating.

It seems I am the only one having this issue. I have tried it with other themes on my test site to see if it was an issue with my theme, but they didn't show up there either.

Does anyone have any idea why I cannot get amazon native ads to show up on my site?

(yes, I am inserting the code in the text editor, but when I switch to visual or preview the post, there is nothing there. Just a blank line).

Do you have some ad blocker active Tanja?

Could you PM me a screenshot of the code in Text editor after you have pasted it in? Thank you.

Here is the link to the question I posed to the community and all of the the things I have tried. It also has the code. Let me know if another screenshot would still help

Hi Tanja, if you use firefox, and have "use tracking Protection in Private Window" activated ( settings- Privacy , top one) , it will act like an add-blocker and stop you from seeing ads. Check it out and try, I unchecked it and can finally see my ads in Firefox. I don't use that browser normally, and could see my ads in other browsers.

I don't think that is the problem as I use chrome. I have also had several people look at the post that used to have the ad code from their computers and they could not see the ads

Ok, then I honestly don't know what the problem can be. Very weird.
