If you're a new Amazon Affiliate, here are some tips on how to get off to a good start using the Native Shopping Ads. It can be really confusing trying to figure out what each version does, and why. I'll try to explain each one, giving you reasons you may or many not want to use that version.

Native shopping ads are very simple to use - they really are. As part of my new post checklist, I make sure to add one to every new post, while constantly checking my most popular posts for performance and updating.

Whichever version you select, ultimately you will be led to a code that you need to copy and paste into your post. Just copy it and go to the TEXT tab in your Wordpress editor and paste the code in a position where you believe it will be most effective. Depending on the ad, that may be two or three paragraphs in to the article, or at the very end (see below on why).

As I mentioned, there are three versions to the Native Ad:

Recommendation Ads. These ads work like Google AdSense ads. They analyze the actual content of your article, and offer up ads that appear relevant. They also cross-match the article content to the previous searches of the end-user, so what YOU see may not be at all what your neighbor sees. Because Recommendation Ads analyze the content to determine what they'll serve up, you have to have a significant amount of content for it to analyze. If the post doesn't have enough content, it will remain blank. If I use one of these, I put it at the very end of the post.

Recommendation Ads require you to save them under an Ad Name (none of the others do). I advise you to name these ads after the Items You Are Trying To Sell, rather than associating them with your post title. That way, you can use them over and over again, because you know what you set up. (E.g., "High-Altitude Cookbooks" and "Best Kitchen Knives".) I made this mistake - and once you create one, you cannot delete it.
