Let's visualize your website in a different light.
Think of the bare bones of your site, the WordPress framework - as the 'bare bones' of your site.
That makes your theme its clothing, its fashion statement, so to speak.
Just like there are tons of different clothing designers in the world, so too are there tons of WordPress theme designers.
Understanding themes and their components will make it easier for you to narrow the field when choosing a theme for your website - either at the time of its initial build, or later, if you decide that your current theme is not meeting your needs.
The mechanics of choosing a theme are simple. But understanding how to use the "Feature Filter" will make finding something that works for you a whole lot easier than looking at page after page of previews.
In this first of a four-part series, we'll be looking at the various layout choces available within the Feature Filter.
My favorite theme is Elegant Magazine.
It is crisp and clean on laptop and mobile and has a lot of white space which makes text easier to read.
I wanted my sites to have the appearance of an online magazine so I'm very detailed with my menus. I used a table of contents from a print magazine as a guide to design my menus.
It also has exclusives scrolling across the screen so my blogs are showcased with thumbnails and titles.
All the best,
Louisa
