Cropped Images not found on Google Search Console

Cropped images and deleted images can cause a problem in Google search console since they are still submitted by some SEO plugins , especially AIOSEO sitemap that submits taxonomies and creates an attachment page for each image .

Some themes are also automatically creates a cropped image for favicon, site icon , etc.

The problem generally appears in Google search console as 404 or page not found . The origin of the problem is that these deleted photos does not exist in the media library anymore , but their attachment pages are still submitted in the sitemap to google .

There is no information over the web regarding this issue for people who are using AIOSEO xml sitemap.

After extensive research and trials and errors , i have found the solution which can be summarized by the following steps :

1- Install the following two plugins : File Manager and Image Clean Up.

I have just been sent an error 404 on cropped images. When I do a search for the plugin file manager there are no results.
Is there a specific name I should try?

I would check with tech support because I don't think there should be any error messages for crop images at least I don't think there is anyway. I hope this helps you out

Dear Lee,
You should click on "add new" when you are in the plugin menu in wordpress . Otherwise, wordpress will search the name in the already installed plugins , not for new ones .Just go to your wordpress site, click on plugins, click on " Add New" then search the word " file manager " as shown on the following photo, select the blue color thumbnail for plugin " file manager".
