Which Payment Model Should I Choose?

This is going to be a quick and hopefully helpful tutorial to explain the various payment models available to you as an affiliate marketer.

Many of us have spent a great deal of time designing our websites, getting the SEO correct, adding original and highly unique content.

We have made sure its great informative and over 1500 words...to ensure it ads value.

Our posts target high traffic, low competition keywords.

We are linked to analytics, we have submitted sitemaps, we have an autoresponder, we are indexed and we spend time ensuring everything that can be optimized is optimized.

Frantically busy as you have been can you now relax? NO....go get coffee?

Your job is not done...

Now you'll be seeking out the affiliate network and advertisers who are going to provie you with the actual sources of income.

You can have the BEST website in the world...with the best content...and the best SEO and the most traffic possible....but unless you are linked with affiliate networks and able to promote advertisers products on your site then you'll make £0, $0, RM0...etc

When you join most affiliate sites they will make it easy...and simply offer you a percentage of the product cost as your profit...

Others won't...they will ask you to choose your payment method. Do you want CPA/Revshare/CPC/CPM.....etc....

If you don't know what these mean then you may be missing out on the profits.

So let's find out what these payment methods are...and what they actually mean to you and your business

I know this is a silly question, but what is the first thing to do once we affiliate with a platform offering it? such as Amazon or clickbank Viglink etc? what is it that should be our plan of immediate action?

Funny, but I recently joined WA as I'm trying to learn about this income source for my website. When I was going to sign up for a survey site, I got to the part where they asked about this and I didn't know what to choose, so I Googled. This site came up and it was helpful, so thanks!

Shareasale is an affiliate network. They handle many businesses that wish to have affiliate programs. Sort of an affiliate program clearing house.

Hello Jason, my dear friend,

Goodness, its good to hear from you!

I figured as much I mean about being crazy busy! How could anyone think that you've run away, you are still contributing, like this tutorial, which I sure didn't expect with being knee deep in your new role. "-)

Tee Hee! So glad you have landed something to keep the bugaboos at bay...I think you know what I mean. There will be a routine set in and then I hope to see more of those smiles!!!

You know I send them along to you with fond wishes for your health. Be sure and holler at me if you need anything. Thank you for your many kindnesses!

Thanks Jason, I was confused with those "c-words" too lol. It's all clear in my head now, thank you!

I've seen some drop-down options asking you to choose your preference between CPA or Revshare... Why would you ever choose CPA over Revshare, I wonder? Surely recurring income lifetime would be more beneficial than CPA?
Ray
Reply
JasonGB Premium
Hi Ray
I'm with you. I tend to choose the revshare
I think in most cases CPA probably is easier as you might just promote a cheap product and sell loads ...where revshare usually is a higher initial and ongoing cost so converts less. They both have their good points but I do agree revshare is the way to go if possible.

Thanks Jason. The 'C' from all the terms are somewhat confusing to me as publisher. I mean, I should get a profit, not expending cost. The inclusion of cost made me confused at first :)

Cheers,
Ferdinand
Reply
JasonGB Premium
You're welcome Ferdinand
It's the advertisers that's pay the cost
You get the profit
Hope all is well with you

Thank you, Jason! It is so easy to get confused out there which 'C' method was what.....I have bookmarked for my silly butt to go to....in a days' time between various social media, emails sent/received, affiliate offers......it is easy to get those darn 'C's tangled up....lol
Reply
JasonGB Premium
Lol...absolutely. ..those darn C's

It's funny I just signed up for Cafepress and saw these for the first time. Of course I had no idea what they meant, but had to pick one to continue. At least now I know what I picked. Do you know if you can change it after you've applied? Thanks Jason. Great training.
