Final step!

In the Wizard, Click on the arrow to the right of 'add products.

V

Page opens to a familiar sight – just like the pages you used earlier. The only difference is the added portions that address the product itself.

To Create a Product

1. Select Product name

2. Short description here.

Ignore the yellow and blue alerts, (that reflects my website only)

Next: Decide which type of product. Single or variable.

To the right of product data - you can select types of product:type:

Pardon the lines - off computer screen to show drop-down choices.

For Simplicity sake, let's use simple product.

  • General tab, enter the price for regular and sale price.(if any).
  • Select whether or not the product istaxable.
  • Inventory**
  • Shipping**
  • Linked Products - the product (for upsells or cross-sells)
  • Attributes - will help you set things like color options, sizes, and more.
  • Variations- are actual choices that a customer can make.
  • Advanced - can be used for adding notes that appears after placing an order.

** WooCommerce keeps track of your inventory and shipping.

The Product Short Description - This is the actual description of the product that SEO will use to describe product on Search page.

For variable products, I will create another tutorial, watch for that soon.

Excellent training and resource. I'd heard of WooCommerce before but had no idea what it was or what it's used for. I will check into this and see if I can use it to get more sales of my existing products and the sites I have them listed on currently. Thank you! I just found your training, and I see several more I want to check out! 😊

Rudy, this is just what I was looking for! A couple of questions:
I already have a business PayPal -- do I have to add any others?

Now I can't remember the other question, because it was earlier in your tutorial. Will ask you later.

Oh, one thing -- did you choose a separate domain for your ecommerce store?

Thanks!
If you already have a PP account, that's all you will need.

In regards to using a second domain?

No, I did not and you don't need to.
Woo is installed to your website domain, and is self contained. That's the beauty of this plugin. You don't have to add a subdomain or use a second domain.

The Woo Commerce wizard tutorial will walk you through each step. For some reason it wants to use jetpack, but do not be swayed. You don't need jetpack. Although Jetpack offers features to make tour like easier, Woo Commerce is an animal all on its own. WC offers paid extensions to enhance your usage.

Here's to remembering your other question...grin.

I've been thinking I could add it to my present site...my literate cat, Lucinda, could decide she likes the bright baubles we call jewelry and could open her own boutique.

Do you take your own pictures? Any tips?

Ahhh, lucky cat...grin
Yes, I take my own pictures.
Tips? Sure.

Are you showcasing, jewelry? (The hint was baubles..grin)

Yes. I have sold jewelry for 50 years, and have quite a bit of leftover stock. Might as well see if I can sell some of it. I've gotten a bit disgusted with eBay lately -- for one thing, they no longer pay with PayPal. Bums me out.

Not sure where I'll find the time. Looking for a manager. Meanwhile trying to learn what it's all about.
