Google Calendar and Task Manager are free programs offered by Google. All you need is a Google Account to access these programs. If you have an existing Gmail or Google + account, then you are all set to get started.

If not, then follow this link to set-up a Google account.

How to Find Your Google Task Manager and Calendar

There are several ways to access your Google task list and calendar.

Open Tasks from Your Gmail email home page.

  • Go to your Gmail account.
  • When you open your Gmail account you will find a drop-down arrow on the left-hand side, as shown in the picture below. Click on the drop down arrow.
  • Click on the word tasks.
  • A small task box will open on the right hand side of your screen.
  • Click on the slanted arrow to open a pop-out task window.

Open Google Tasks from Chrome Extension

  • Install a Google Task Extension in your Chrome Browser
  • Visit the Chrome Web Store: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions
  • Enter “Google Tasks” in the search box.
  • At the present time, my favorite chrome extension is “Better Google Tasks” by Matt Atkins.**Please leave a comment below if you have found a better app in the store.
  • Click on the button that says “add to Chrome.”
  • Note that a little icon will appear on your Chrome Web Browser – this is how you will access the app.

Open Google Tasks from a Smart Phone or Tablet App

  • Visit the app store from your smart device.
  • Search for “Google Tasks”
  • I use “gTasks Pro” on my iPad and iPhone. There is a free version and a paid version.
  • I do not have an Android phone – so if you find a Google Task app that you like, please leave a note in the comment section below.

As you use and work with Google Tasks you will find that it has many features. I only have given the basic details here to get you started. If you have a question, please enter it in the comment section.

Hi Sharon
Thank you VERY MUCH for this and for all the examples that you have provided! I'm still a paper diary gal, but you speak of this so highly that I will have to give it a try sometime! ;-)
