1) GIMP
When it comes to a free image editing software, GIMP is my number one tool. Being free does not mean a reduction in quality. It offers a wide array of functions that produce quality images. They are fortified with brushes and various image enhancement tools. The images created are in layers, making editing easy.
Although GIMP is highly beginner-friendly, professionals also will still find GIMPs animated gifs, curves, personalized brushes and lots more, very useful. The fact that both beginners and professionals find GIMP useful makes it a close alternative to the popular Photoshop. You can use it on windows and the Linus system.
2) Pixlr X
If you are in search of a free professional editor, Pixlr X is a tool you should try out. Being professional does not mean it is difficult to use. It presents a clean, icon-based interface that does not offer its users with cumbersome options same time. The platform is quite new, as such, we look forward to future updates on this platform.
Come to think of using this tool; it is easy to use. All you need do is select am image from your desktop or pick a URL, and you can start editing. Just like many software, it comes with a selection of tools in the left-hand corner. They are quite self-explanatory and for those you may not be familiar with, all you need do is hover your mouse on such tool, it will reveal itself.
When it comes fine-tuning contrast, saturation, and brightness; the Pixlr X is an excellent tool. Top of it is that this tool also avails users the options of tweaking shadows, highlights and vibrance.
Paint, is a windows tool and still available...IT WAS NOT REMOVED FROM WINDOWS 10...and is a good one for adding text to your images.
You can create a signature to add to your images.
You can add text to an image for posting on IG.
Thanks for the training!!
