There is no better place on the internet than Wealthy Affiliate when it comes to effectively building an online business in the different forms of internet marketing. Every member has access to the most up to date training and from the sharing of knowledge from those members who have the answers. For the low price of $49 per month, you have an advantage over your competition from just the training alone.

Asking questions is encouraged here at WA because let’s face it, if you are stuck, asking a question will help you get unstuck and expand your knowledge. That is what I try to do in my many training blogs and tutorials. Today is no different and I will be discussing 4 easy Google tips that will benefit your website building experience.

WHEN WILL GOOGLE INDEX MY WEBSITE?

Out of the hundreds of questions I have seen asked here at WA, one common question is, when will Google index my website? The answer to that question is easy, not immediately. For a new website, getting your content indexed in Google could take about a week. The more mature your website, the faster the indexing.

But as most times, people are impatient and want their content to be indexed within hours. Though this is possible you will have to initiate the process yourself by doing a Fetch as Google within your Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools. For training on how to do that, see below link.

How to Get Your Content Indexed in Google Within Hours

But how can you find out if your website has been indexed by Google? This is very easy for any member of Wealthy Affiliate. In the above image is a screen shot of my Site Manager. As you can see, I have two Site Rubix websites, the one on top is NOT indexed and the bottom website IS indexed. If you want to know if your website is indexed in Google, just look at your Site Manager.

Though not as simple as just looking at your Site Manager, there is another easy way of seeing whether your website is indexed. You want to go to Google and type in the following, site:yourdomainname. Example, my domain name is legitimatejobfromhome.com. I would type into Google, site:legitimatejobfromhome.com see image below.

When typing it into Google make sure it is all one word with no spaces and there is no need for the www, http or https proceeding your domain name. Then once you click search, Google will display every page and post on your website that is indexed into Google.

My WA Site Manager shows that my site was indexed. It probably was at some point, and then I messed up... I think it happened when my chosen theme didn't want to look the way I wanted it to look, and I tried to change it. I couldn't get another theme right either, and returned to the original one. Strangely, my first chosen theme didn't look the same anymore (now even worse than ever) And then I noticed that my SEO settings were lost. I tried to fix it - not sure if I got it correctly. Anyway, following the advice #2, I typed site:artgemsweb.com in Google and received back "Your search - site:artgemsweb.com - did not match any documents." message. Could you please advise on how to clean up my own mess, and how to get my site indexed again? Thank you!

I do not know where to start. Changing the theme would not cause these problems, but changing the themes multiple times and/or whatever you did to try to get it to look the way you wanted, probably caused your current problems.

If your SEO settings got screwed up then yes, Google will not recognize your website in search results. You are going to have to go back and figure out what you did wrong. Then you will probably have to start the SEO process over again.

I thought I did start the SEO process over again when I noticed the mess, but it has been several days now since I thought that I fixed the settings, and the site is not indexed. Indexing unlike ranking is only a discovery of the site by Google, right? Once Google thinks the site is discovered, will it even try to re-discover it? <Sigh!>

I do not know what I've done now, but it's working again! I just updated/refreshed everything one more time. Thank you!

Google does not index new websites quickly, even websites that get fixed after a mess up like you encountered. As you can now see things are coming together, just be patient.

Great tutorial as always! But regarding LSI keywords, using them won't be against the rule of 1 keyword/1 post?
Reply

Thank you.

No, using LSI keywords will not go against the rule of one keyword per post because they are synonyms of the target keyword.

Example, if your target keyword was Samsonite Carry-On Luggage your LSI keywords could be...

Travel Bag
Hard Shell Case
Airline Carry On
Backpack
Rolling Luggage

Google uses LSI keywords the same way they do your target keyword, to know what your content is about without you having to repeat your target keyword more than twice.

Thanks Rob, I take your word for it :)
I think LSI keywords would come naturally within a well-structured and thorough content anyway, but it's wise to keep an eye on them.
It's my understanding that focus keyword should be in the title and somewhere in the first paragraph (or last?) and that would be it.

That is correct. This is why you always hear Kyle, myself and others say that the target keyword should be in the title and in the first paragraph. After that just write naturally.

When you naturally write out your content, and being aware not to mention your target keyword beyond the first paragraph, your content will "naturally" contain LSI keywords.
