The three rules of choosing the most powerful niche are:

  • 1.Choose the most profitable niche; Remember that you are not investing your time, money and energy in a project just because you like it as a leisure activity. Your niche must be strong enough to give you a decent profit. How can you know whether the niche is profitable?

Here are 3 hints that will help you understand the profitability of a niche:

  • Your target audience must be strongly motivated to solve their problem as soon as possible. This is because they want to ease their pain, remove their fear of losing something, or want to overcome a deep frustration.
  • People who are experiencing a problem are actively seeking a quick solution. Therefore, your chosen niche must provide instant solutions to their problem and not take their attention away from the main point.
  • Check for competition. Even if you find out that a niche is oversaturated, stay with that niche anyway and narrow down the niche to a level where it solves a specific problem. This way, you will eliminate the competition, and find an audience with a strong need. Your target market will be people who have a few solutions or none at all.

  • 2.Your niche must answer questions and solve their problems. This is the most confusing part of the online marketing community. When people visit your website, or buy your information product, they already know what their problem is; they just need a solution to that problem. Therefore, you need to provide concrete and practical solutions.
  • 3.You must Choose your niche after you understand their needs. This is directly related to the two previous rules. You cannot offer solutions or provide answers if you are unaware of the needs of your prospective audience.

Glad to say I followed these same guidelines when choosing my niche and have already started building an audience. Nothing huge but the potential is there and I'm only two weeks in. Great, great advice! # 3 is especially relevant as I chose a niche I am already knowledgeable about and basically asked myself this question: What do I want/need in a site that I currently can't find - especially all in one place? Voila, my niche!
