When I am composing in the Site Content area and select the images button, the slide bar for my window gets pushed off the screen. Minimizing does not help, it simply disappear

No we have not experienced this.
Have you refreshed your browser. have you cleared your browsing history.
Can you change the viewing size of your screen.
Does using another browser give you the same problem. (Chrome or Safari)

Try to zoom out or a different browser zoomed out.

Why does the slide bar disappear from my screen when I select the images button?

In my back office when I am looking at Posts, there are 6 little boxes that are either orange or green. Does the color designate action or no action neded?

It means you need to work on titles, description ,...
just click on the question mark (?) esides each box... it tells you what is wrong...

Orange and green boxes within posts in the back office?

I have chosen golf as my niche, but I'm not sure if that is a viable path to any affiliate links or making any commissions in the future. I would appreciate any input or comme

Awesome niche, lot of potential but broad.

I start off with a subcategory starting out, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to cover another subcategory.

See example blog post below In the first instance, I'd ask myself

Am I passionate and genuinely interested in my chosen niche, as I I'd be expected to write lots of content, it would motivate me to update blog with succinct original content worthy my visitors week in week out.

Would I be writing about it in a years time or two or more

Who would be my target audience, who would benefit most from what I have to offer.

Yes, you have a lot of potential. But you will be writing posts to help people. Who is it that you want to read your posts and find help? How do you want to help them? What do you want the purpose of your website to be? Your niche needs a specific group of people you want to help when you start. You can expand later.

it is way too early to sign up for an affiliate program but you can find them with a browser search.
your niche idea + affiliate program.

You can start with informational posts first to grow your traffic (guides, how to, definitions). The training will guide you.

.

the whole of golf is more of an industry rather than a niche...
you should be answering 'i want to help ____(group of people) with _____(problems)'
so maybe ' i want to help beginner golfers learn how to play better'
so you can go through how to start, what equipment to select and how to choose it, is it better to buy or try, clothing for all weathers, footwear, get fit, there is far too much really for one person to do on one site, but it may be worth it...
I hope you manage to find what you want to do ...
i would write it down with a description of what you want your site to be like and what it includes ...then ask yourself ...'does this help my niche improve'
have fun

Hi - I answered your question elsewhere, but here is the link again to a relevant post.

Thank you, Diane!! That makes me feel much better about my choice.
