Just Another Shooting? Seriously?! This One Just Too Close To Home!
What Possesses A Person To Shoot Aimlessly At Innocent People They Don't Even Know?
It all started when the shooter decided to rob to ladies coming back from church. This wasn't enough for them as they decided to rob the store on the corner just down from the train station.
The store owner must've resisted because the next we all knew was that bullets were flying past peoples faces as they were talking over breakfast they had just ordered. Whizzing bullets richoceting off of trees flying over the heads of vendors - all near misses.
As we were immediately instructed, we got down on the ground as much as we could behind our craftmarket tables just as more shots were fired.
We started to pray.
God heard our prayers and protected all of us.
As we were reeling from the ordeal, suddenly there was pandemonium and a lot of scurring.
One of the robbers had perpetrated the premises of the craftmarket venue and was trying to escape or rob again. As they were chasing him he managed to find a dustbin / garbage can to hide in as that is where one of the chasers found him. When he was discovered he bolted right onto the roof of the restaurant. The chasers ensued up on the roof and cornered him.
He was caught!
The store was a few properties away from the craftmarket venue and what we experienced was the stray bullets that were fired.
But again, what makes someone do this?
I believe it can only be someone - not in their right mind - as was proven in this case. The person was either high on drugs and / or intoxicated with alcohol.

Our Purpose In LIfe
The main aim of this blog is that I lived to tell of the event that left us with many thoughts.
I have had the privilege of being held at gun point and being hi-jacked of the car I was using at the time as well - this event was a few years ago.
Both times I relinquished my fear of death and was willing to go if it was my time, but God still has a purpose for me here on earth so I'm here to stay until He calls me home.
I believe that many of you have similar stories to share and this is testimony to our purpose here on earth.
We are here to encourage one another, help one another, comfort one another and pay it forward.
I trust that as I continue to pay it forward in WA, that many may benefit from it and in turn be able to pay it forward to someone else.
Paying it forward, with an attitude of gratitude!

What a scary situation to be in. It is sad that some people do this sort of thing and ruin the lives of innocent people. Greed and drugs make people do crazy things.

I am so sorry you had to go through something like that, truly traumatic. I live in South Africa where the crime rate (including violent crime such as rape, murder, armed robbery, assault) is one of the highest in the world.
The people 2 doors down from us were held up at gunpoint in their home a while back and their home ransacked while their grandchildren were sleeping. Thankfully nobody was harmed and the children slept right through it so they were spared any trauma.
A young mother I met a while back was murdered by people that broke in while her nanny took her daughter for a walk in the pram. Absolutely awful.
I am a drug addict and an alcoholic in recovery for close on 10 years now. Yes I agree I went to great lengths to get my fix but there was a limit to what I would do and I don't believe I ever would have crossed the line to assaulting anyone.
Yes I am sure that drugs and alcohol play a part for some people, but that is added to other character traits that makes it possible for that person to sink so low.
It is so sad that these things happen and I hope that you manage to heal and recover from this.
I think events like this make us appreciate every day even more and also make us determined to fulfil our purpose in life.
While the US has a gun problem they are being left behind by the rest of the World in every way by their attitude problems. It is a tunnel vision problem developed over the last 100 years.
