Feedback VS Comments. so is there REALLY a difference?

According to the image above, there is definitely a difference, since it would be superfluous to create a duplication of a great utility!

So, what IS the difference between the two?

It took me a while before I understood the difference between Feedback and Comments and so, hopefully I will be able to enlighten you today and you will be better informed.

What is Feedback?

If you think of a humourous analogy, what happens when you speak into a microphone and the volume is too high, or you're standing in front of speakers?

RIGHT! You'll get Feedback! So you have given out a sound in your spoken voice through the microphone, and now it is responding electronically to amplify that sound so you can hear it louder in the speakers. But if it is too loud, it will certainly let you know in return that something is wrong. Naturally, you turn down the volume and find an equilibrium.

In a sense, this is the same procedure we use when we request Feedback for our websites - notice the sub-heading under the Site Feedback image at the beginning? - it specifically says for websites.

When a person requests Feedback for their website, they need you to give YOUR accurate opinion of the content, the style, the layout, the targeted audience, the quantity of pages, headers, footers, sidebars .... and so the list goes on. But be careful to give respectful constructive feedback that will enhance their site in the end.

Now we come to Comments.

What are Comments?

If you've been following my train of thought, you will know that I will point out that they are specifically for Pages and Posts - see the sub-heading under Site Comments.

A Comment is what you do on a daily basis without even thinking about it. You comment about the weather how fine it is or how cold it is... or you might comment on how well a statue was sculptured. Now the Comments that one is looking for on Pages and Posts are on the subject matter pertaining to the market niche of the website.

These Comments that you provide need to be ones of encouragement and acknowledgement of the chosen niche. They would not be on spelling or grammatical errors, nor would they be on the layout of the website and where you think the sidebar menu should be moved to.

To help you understand the difference between the two, here are related links to Feedback and Comments. Here's hoping you will now understand the difference between the two. If you have any Feedback AND/OR Comments on my blog, you may submit them below and I'll respond to them as soon as I can! :-)

Thanks TopAchiever, great blog defining the difference between the 2, this has opened up my eyes on how to provide both. Appreciate your blog.

Thanks Paul for your encouraging comment!

Great blog and yes that is how I understand it as well. Giving feedback on websites takes time as you have to go through the whole website and if it has several pages, posts etc it may take up to a couple of hours and if you want to give constructive feedback your feedback answer should be more than 20 words. Cheers

Good point Sally! Thanks for sharing!

You couldn't have been any clearer. Great post.

Why thank you Darlene! That's very kind of you to say so!
