I was doing it wrong, Are You doing it wrong too!

Last Update: January 11, 2018

The Guy above is definitely doing it wrong and giving terrible advice!

I was doing it wrong,

Are You doing it wrong too!

Kyle, private messaged me to let me know that I needed to remove the links from within my Bio here on WA as that is against the rules.

I was unaware of that and quickly complied and removed the links from within my Bio and now there are only links at the right side near the bottom of my profile as that is where Kyle said that all links need to go.

Are You doing it wrong as well?

I have been here at Wealthy Affiliate for over 2 1/2 years and was unaware that we were not allowed to place links within our Bios here, so i apologize if I have shown a bad example in the past and have corrected this.

I have seen and know that there are Friends here at WA who have been here much longer than I who also have links within their Bio to this day, so I know that I'm not the only one.

As Loes' recent Blog Post here at WA stated "But everybody is doing it!" doesn't mean that it's allowed.

Read Loes' Blog Post here if you haven't already - https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co...

So,

I sincerely apologize that I was doing it wrong and have complied and changed by unknowing wrongdoing.

Are You also doing it wrong and will You also comply?

Hello Tony, thank you for your blog post, I must admit my links are down the right-hand side, but I am aware that many people have links in their profile. I must admit I did not know that this was not allowed, I had thought about adding links to my profile, but obviously I won't be now!

We never stop learning!

All the best you Tony, Roy.

It took 2 1/2 years for them to find out??
Wow, now that|s what I find to be Canadian super sonic speed...

Well I grew up on the same Island the boys are still on...
I just think its kinda funny...
Have a great weekend Tony!

One of the things I do when I enter a platform is reading the rules, it took you 2,5 years to find out, that placing links is not allowed in your Bio?

Now a beginner like me can wonder if this is the right platform for me, when so called ambassadors don't know the rules.

This is very sad, don't you think?

Also sad is the fact, that, due to persons like you, mr Hamilton, that I changed the text of my "bio" and decided NOT TO continue Premium membership. If people are here only to "collect points" to be somewhere on top of a list, I surrender.

New members, just like me, must have the confidence, that people high up on this list have the knowledge of the "how to be succesful", you show in your latest Posts, that you're not really that kind of person and using Google to research you one can only find one lie after the other.

I wish you much fun with deceving yourself and taking others with you

Tony, don't worry. I think we've all done it without realising we were breaking the rules. Personally, I got reprimanded immediately and deleted my post accordingly. But you are right, so many more members are still getting away with it. Maybe they saw others do it and don't realise they are not allowed. So, if they read your blog and realise they too did it wrong, I'm hoping they will remove their links :)

Guilty, but OK now - Thanks Tony.

I am sure I am not the only one (besides lawyers who are paid to) that does not read all the fine print and regulations before signing their names. There is not enough time.

When I was in the hotel business in Saskatchewan the Provincial Liquor Commissionaire told me it was impossible for me to abide by all the regulations and that any of his liquor could close me down if they wanted to.

The longer governments and organizations exist the more regulation and enforcement increases. I realize that regulations are necessary, but hope WA can keep them to a minimum so that there is still enough freedom to grow.

In 2016 and most of 2017 I wrote few posts, but lately I have started to write more about my passion and niche market. Now I am worried that I am using the same information on my website. Oh well - I am sure someone will tell me, if I get successful, that I've crossed the line.

Best of luck in 2018.

I agree everyone makes mistakes at some point. As long as they are corrected as soon as they are identified and everyone who is affected is informed, then it is a perfectly acceptable process.
Mistakes that go uncorrected once identified, are a huge issue.

You have shown accountability for what was done, so that is all that needs to be said.

Thanks, Tony,

Alex

Don't be too hard on yourself Tony. I believe very few individuals (other than lawyers who are paid to) read the small print just before we sign our name. Even if one does read all the regulations, it is impossibly for them remember them all it all.

When I was in the hotel business in Saskatchewan I was told by the Provincial Liquor Commissionaire that it was impossible for me to abide by ALL of their liquor regulations and that his liquor could always find a reason for calling me to task.

I immediately re-read my bio and removed my family URL. Thanks.

In the beginning I was so unsure of whether or not my blogs were according to the regulations, I wrote very few in the first year.

Lately I have started to write more blogs about my niche and what I am doing, but now am concerned about whether or not I am using the same information on my website. I know we need regulations, but hope that WA doesn't go overboard, like the government has, with so many regulations that enforcement is sporadic and controversial depending on who you are.

Regards,
Roger

Hey, Tony. No one is perfect and we are all always learning. I only hope that, as you have said, others will get the message and "Comply". "Resistance is futile"

If one doesn't know and changes because they find out differently it shouldn't be held against them.

Good for you.

LOL! Tony! ;-) My beloved Mum always said as long as it can be corrected and apologized for, it's not a "mistake", it is just a little "slip-up". (Isn't she the best Mum out? In my books she is! But I think may be a little biased!) ;-) LOL!

But OH MY GOODNESS, that guy in your picture!... HE is going to cause a lot of "mistakes" for those innocents who opt to follow his "advice", that's for sure! ;-) LOL!

Oh dear Tony, you been a bad person doing it wrong all this time lol. At least you know now and you have sorted it.

I must have had a senior moment, as I never even thought about doing that.

You should have said IDK to Kyle and see if he knew what it meant lol. xxxx

Oops...fixed. I think the confusion came from the misunderstanding of putting those links "on our bio page"...not sure about the importance of the difference of the location, but it's Kyle's and Carson's football and their yard, so they get to make the rules...fine by me!!!

Thanks for the heads-up Tony...glad I was able to fix it before the black helicopters came...:-O...

Hi, I'm still kinda new and getting things wrong on a regular basis.

On our bio can we link to our social media accounts? I did this a few days ago because I had thought we were asked to do that as part of the affiliate bootcamp training. I may have completely misinterpreted that. Do I need to remove those links?

I just want to do the right thing!!!

Do You see it Melissa?

Let me know my Friend,

Wonderful Melissa,

No worries my Friend as I knew about the location and still shared at both spots because I thought that it was allowed. :)

For over 2 1/2 years now I have shared links within my bio :) not knowing that it was wrong :)
