Google Yourself, what is being said about you? Build your brand!

Last Update: January 19, 2019

Have you ever googled yourself?

How about the URL with your name, do you own it yet?

The internet is the bathroom wall of the 21st century, if you don't concentrate on building your brand then you are limiting yourself and your growth.

Not long ago I had an evil person write on the bathroom wall of the 21st century and wrote some untrue things about me........ I was mortified!

We can't stop anyone from writing anything but we can indeed work on creating trust by building our brand.

My name URL website TonyHamilton.com was available but at a cost of $1,395 and there are actually quite a few Tony Hamiltons in our world, so I opted to purchase mine with my middle name Lee within it as well.

How about you, have you purchased the URL for your name?

Besides having a website with your name, you can of course be active on social media sites etc.... where your profile page will show up when you are googled.

What does your name show when googled?

Are you ready to start growing your brand and have the search results show more positive results in the future?

You are in a great place because getting started is the first step in creating and building your online reputation = also creating trust with your website visitors.

Don't worry about those that are negative and write on the bathroom walls, instead continue to grow and share with others. haters are gonna hate ........ instead of chasing the haters, share with Friends and those who are positive, therefore taking you to your breakthrough in your life!

Great Post!! Yes, I hear you on a number of points. Firstly, yes there are many spineless people who hide behind the anonymity that the internet provides and never seem happy unless sticking it to someone else. I simply thank God that I do not have to live in their miserable heads.

Secondly, when I went to purchase my own name domain, it seemed like there were a billion Tim Murphys in the world, so I settled on Tim Murphy Marketing. I agree I think owning your own internet real estate is important.

Thank you for your blog post-Tony, I hear you, I do own the domain name Roy Bretton online, although, about a year ago I decided to change to The Christian Internet Marketer, rightly or wrongly! I chose this name as my faith is very real to me.

I was fortunate Tony, there are not many Roy Bretton's in the world, so I didn't have to pay a premium price for the domain name. At least you have your own name for your domain and although there was a premium cost, I guess it has paid off many times over.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Good afternoon Tony,

Yes, a long time ago, just when I got a computer I Googled myself. At that time I was shocked and had to go to the police. I wrote a WA post about it. Nowadays I get some 10 pages with what I have been doing online, giving comments on peoples websites.
The idea to use my name for a website is nice but I have 2 sites already and that is sometimes more than I can handle.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hello Tony
Thank you for your email which remember all of us that we need to focus on what make us grow and become more happy, rather then giving attention to a noisy haters...
But the question is should we focus more on branding ourself(i brand) or branding business (we brand)???
Thank you

Some years ago I Googled my name and found an image of a gravestone with my name on it!

Thanks for sharing this post Tony, you have made some good points which I am seriously going to consider.

Best wishes,

Steve.

Hi! Tony,

Thank you for sharing. This a very important topic.

I did type my name in google and interestingly, I was redirected to GoDaddy

That’s when I remembered, last year 2018, I purchased two domains.

One domain has my first and last name. I purchased but didn’t know what to do next.

Once again, thank you very much for your encouragement.

To be honest, I'm addicted to that.

Was never interested in being on the first page when my name is searched on Google neither was I interested in being on Google.
But I kind of got an internship in a big company and all the big guys are there when you search for them, since then I made it a goal.
Thanks to WA and the company 1 occupy all first page on Google when my name is searched.

Thanks for sharing, aiming at 2nd and 3rd page too 😉

Some guy took my name dotcom years ago. The jerk never even built a website. He finally let it go last year but the registrar wanted $1600 for it. That's okay, though... I passed. Like yours, my name is common, so I registered my first and middle name. So instead of Hal Cohen, or Hal Aaron Cohen, I dropped my last name altogether. My personal site is Hal Aaron, and it's been working very well for me since 2006.
