Backlinks Are History

I would just like to let all my followers know, but I am sure a lot of them already know this. But I like to get to the point very quick. Thats where the saying comes from short and to the point with me. I hear from a lot of newbies that have joined here at WA that they are having a few problems about getting there articles published. I know there is a 30 in 30 reward going on that is great it teaches you how to write without copying and pasteing someone elses work that Google will pick up when they index your site.

But I believe that instead of writing article after article to create backlinks to your site are not necessary because backlinks do not help you very much anymore like they use to. Google got smart to all the internet gurus that exploited the system and was able to flood the search engine with all there robo techniques.

When I started you could go to the search engine and type in a keyword or phrase and get 25 or 30 sites from the same person. But now it is all about building your site to represent you i a personal sense. So please feel free to write post instead of backlinking articles to your site. It works for me now and I know it will work for you.

Good Luck

Tommy

Thanks for the useful update.

no prob good luck

That is great advice. I have been concentrating on my site and it works.

Yes indeed good luck

Google has little more than backlinks to rank sites. Sure they can also use social signals these days, but the algo was built on backlinks and is still heavily weighed towards backlinks. Consider the recent New SEO and Google Storm posts from Glen at ViperChill (sorry I can't link). I would say its just hype, but the fact is I see these kinds of search results myself. Links are alive and well, but not from the same sources that may have once helped.

I disagree on weighing heavily on backlinks they still use them but content out weighs them heavily. That is how they got rid of the spammers from the first pages

Thanks for this Tommy, I believe that adding content to your own site instead of adding it to other sites has got to be more valuable. One of my websites is a woman's blogging site. I am a marketer but have never done any kind of SEO on there or keywords or worried about back links, it just has a hell of a lot of content and comes up top every time.

Very nice thank you for your comment

Absolutely agree. Personally I didn't have a lot of success with articles except to get into the discipline of writing. My own feeling is that if you are aiming for an authority site then you need to focus on content in that site,

You are right that is where I learned how to write also it is a great platform for learning can not discredit it.

Thanks tommy. Thats gone down in my notebook. Cheers

Thank you

Thanks for your point of view, it is always inspiring to know how fellow WA'ers are thinking and sharing what works for them. I too agree with you 100%. All in all Rich makes a good point too.

You are welcome and thank you for commenting

I 100% agree that the focus should swiftly be on your own site, and that the days of writing two articles for submission to an article directory for every page or post on your own site, are long over. However, I still believe learning the skill is worthwhile. It's anecdotal but submitting articles at the beginning does appear to get a new site indexed and ranked quicker, probably because search engines crawl authority sites almost instantly and check the backlinks and although they no longer weight them with any "value", it "registers" the existence of a new site with them. It also helps to cut-your-teeth writing for article directories if you've no experience in the "scribble, scribble" arts. It's better to make any "mistakes" over at their house, rather than at your own! :) Rich.

I agree 100% everyone needs a place to practice writing but still concentrate on there website

I agree Tommy, posting is a better way to go, articles are not to be counted out yet. If you think about it, posts are a group of articles within your website and the more articles, the better your content.
Dave

Yes that is true write for your site

This! Too many times I see people talking about doing the 30 on 30 challenge. I have to tell them over and over again that on site content is best.

Yes but some want I complete the challenge
