About TomHayes1
Joined February 2016
Hi there, My name is Tom,

I'm a retired full time working Australian.

Australians are affectionately known throughout the world as "Skips", however, I please ask not to hold that against me.

I joined Wealthy Affiliate because of the opportunity offered in improving my standard of living. But, above all else, the chance to communicate with people likeminded.

With the gap widening within the standard of living I seized upon the chance to earn a few extra pennies and close off that awful opening.

I may even have a few pence left over for some other enjoyments in life. Life is not easy these days, balancing the budget on a fixed retirement fund is far from the ideal lifestyle.

Challenges that lay ahead will be difficult, and that I understand. Nonetheless, as my journey begins and I commence the walk through the tunnel, I will without doubt experience a number of very dark areas that will be the most daunting.

This will all take time and patience. However, being part of such a wonderful and helpful Wealthy Affiliate community family help will be just around the corner.
They will be the ones who will take me by the hand and ensure I reach my destination with as little scratches and bruises possible.

Thanks to each and every one who has taken the time out to read my profile.

"Thank You"

Superb goals Tom! You have a large network and community here at WA that you can leverage for help and support along the way, myself included.

It all starts with a goal...then is followed by action...then is followed by results. This is going to be how it pans out for you and I can't wait to hear about all of your successes in the days, weeks, and months ahead! :)

Good afternoon Tom,

A warm hello from an Aussie living in Spain.
I always ask this question when I meet new people here.
Do you know the word library? I use it sometimes when writing for my websites as unusual information can be found there.
So in case you do not here comes: www.wdl.org
In Australia it is going towards winter, here it is the other way around. Have a look at my monthly WA post. Wishing you success.

Hi, there Taetske,

Thanks for the thumbs up.

I had a quick look but not sure of its value when writing content. Maybe, you can offer me some snippets of advice on how to gain value by using it.

Yeah, you are right about us Aussies heading toward winter. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell the weather controller.

For Instance, Adelaide, yesterday, had its hottest day in over 100 years. Here in Melbourne yesterday (Wednesday, 17/4/19, we reached 30c. Summer conditions.

Since Christmas, we have had way under 50 mm, of rain, so you will understand how dry the country is.

I see that you are in the top 50. Are you or have you done the SAC with wealthy affiliate? I have been selected for the current one, and we are into our first month of sixteen months. So, I suspect that it is going to get harder as the months go by.

Nice to hear from you and maybe we can keep in touch into the future.

Good Morning Tom,

Yes, I can tell you why I use the World Library sometimes. Just recently I did when writing a post for my health site on the opioid epidemic. I added some information about opium history.

No, I am not doing SAC. as you can see I have not even done all the available lessons, I have to start course 3 and never find the time. Having 2 websites, a better half, cats, a farm, doing Pinterest I really have my fork full.

Our weather is not as it used to be either. Spain is lacking rain. It did rain this night and it seems all over Spain it is raining these days but it is not enough. Of course for the people with the processions of Holy Week, it is very sad as it has to be canceled.

You might care to look at this video, it is worrying.

Hi, there taetske,

I am moved by the video, and it's bloody scary when you consider they are talking about the end of the earth.

All the points raised by the speaker are very legitimate and he is right in pointing out each one. Therefore, we as a society need to take heed and start making changes otherwise we won't be around to appreciate the beauty of this universe.

I am moved for sure.

I have used this video for a couple of posts. I have also written posts on things he talks about, like when the wolf was reintroduced to Yellow Stone park or the solutions for our planet like educating girls.
I will be 69 soon so probably I will not experience the worst but it is already very bad and that is a fact.

All the best, Taetske

Hi, there Taeske,

Most probably there was no interest in your blogs because people believe that it doesn't affect them; While this may be true for older people, it doesn't mean that by ignoring it that it will go away.

Like the chap said no action today catastrophes tomorrow.

Here in Melbourne, and I understand all around the world school children marched in protest, in lack of Government action on climate change.

Back in 2012, we had a stupid Prime Minister who categorically refused to support evidence suggesting that it was a load of rubbish, and just a beat up by scientists.

I'm in the same vintage as you as I'm 75, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be concerned as we won't experience the impact of its furry. That may be true but sitting down and excepting it isn't the way to go either.

Just hope and pray that the hard-nosed approach shown by Governments throughout the world will come to their senses and start doing something and quickly.

Talk soon

Good Morning Tom,

These past months I have been busy spreading the news on 5G.
I also wrote a WA post on that. On one website I have 5 posts and on mother earth 2 posts which talk about the danger of the different types of radiation, we are surrounded by it.
I wrote a guest post for Sylvia and another one for Loes also on 5G.
Then I wrote to Prime Ministers and Presidents worldwide.
Having websites I have changed my world view considerably. It has taken me out of my comfort zone as when you write on something you have come across you will need some extra information. That will make you investigate more.
Living here on my farm it all looks so lovely, that is true for here but not all places in the world are like that.
With our actions we are ruining our environment which after all is our habitat, I wonder why we are so stupid. On that last video was this picture of lovely nature which at the bottom was turned into money. One day all nature is gone and then what? We will not be able to survive.

I hope you will have a nice Easter, Taetske

Good evening to you, Tom, my name is Ken and I welcome you to WA and thank you for the follow. I'm following you back.
What a great attitude you have and I am not very far behind you. I'm 61 years young, and a direct mail printer by trade. The new digital presses will soon put me out to pasture, but for now, my skills are still needed. This makes WA such a wonderful place. A place where I can learn new skills to continue to gainfully earn an income. Stay positive my friend.
I look forward to working with you and helping you anytime you ask. I wish you much success and satisfaction in your online journey.

Hi, there Ken,

Thank you for your kind words as they are appreciated.

I fully understand what you are saying about presses, as I worked for a company called "Heidelberg Australia" a subsidiary of Heidelberg Germany.

When I first started with the company we were 500 Strong, but those numbers quickly dwindled as technology started to take hold.

When I finished with them, they were down to 100 employees, and that was around 10 or so years ago. From what I understand, "today", there are very few employed here in Australia because there is very little need for sales and administrative people. And all the engineers are under an outside contract arrangement with Heidelberg Germany.

Times have changed sometimes for the better and others not so good.

You are fortunate with the benefit of working full time and having the option of learning affiliate marketing, thus setting yourself up for when that moment arrives.

All the best for the future.

Hi, there Colette and Philip,

Thank you for the follow.

Life doesn't get easier as we all grow old unless of course, you belong the lucky few, 3%.

The other 97% of us have to find ways to supplement our income.

And, let me add that it is terribly hard when relying on the Government for the pension. Not even enough to survive on comfortable.

I, like many others, here at WA, are hopeful that WA will be the "WHITE KNIGHT", or at least that is the ultimate aim.

Kind regards

For some it may only take a few months, for others it will be longer. None the less remaining focused diligent and persistent is the overall key, as no-one knows when that light bulb will pop on.

Tom, nice to hear from you fellow Aussie. Tell me about the pension. It took my 5 months to get mine and all because a Centrelink person made a mistake when I initially applied a week before my birthday! So finally got mine and now have been asked to fill out a form for Canadian reciprocity or I may lose it!

The questions asked are ridiculous. All the places I have lived. Our family lived in 5 places before I was 4. Wow am I having fun trying to track this info down.

I had a look at your baby site and it looks pretty good. I must say I like your theme (after all it is the one I use!). Didn't read anything yet so can give feedback but one thing I will say. Google (apparently) doesn't like left aligned images. I believe it doesn't read text to the right of these.

Also my menu used to look like yours but I plugged away and figured out how to tidy it up. You can check this out at . PS if you have trouble with this let me know as I haven't reviewed it for a while.

Have fun here and keep in touch.

Thanks, Kyle, I will take up that offer when required. At the moment I feel that I am doing OK.

However, that could change at the blink of an eye. As you would know, I have been a member for five months with a couple of websites already launched.

My first website attempt hasn't turned out to be a success, but I am treating that one as the learning website.

Finally, would be delighted should I make the conference, although I am not treating that as I priority at the moment.

There are just so much to learn and that is where my energies are being focused.

Making the 300, cut off is a mammoth task, considering there is now only five months left in the calendar year. And, I'm currently sitting on ZERO, with a long way to go in completing the Bootcamp training.

Look, there is one little thing that holds be back, well not really holds me back, but stymies my moving forward. That being, writing content that inspires the reader while at the same time being conversational.

I do eventually get there, but it takes an enormous block of time to complete. As a consequence, moving forward in the training gets held back, purely, because I will not move into the next phase of training until I have completed what is in front of me.

Hence the reason my progress in the past few months has been slow. However, please don't get, me wrong as I love what I'm doing, but, unfortunately, moving forward at much faster rate is my Achilles heal.

I wasn't going to mention this, but, what the heck. I think it was around, 2007, through to 2009, I was a masterclass student of John Thornhill's and learning then was damn difficult, you either kept up or fell behind.

"YES," you guessed it correctly. I was one of the students; left behind, and as a result, I stopped the classes. But, that's not all, the training ran for six months, with no refund or part repayment of investment if you dropped off.

Now, here is the punch line, the training cost me, well let me put it this way, for the same charge, back then, would have paid for three years plus in WA, with the training about 25% of what is available here at WA.

Had his training been set up on a similar platform to WA, then there would have been a reasonable chance I would still be there. Sorry for such a long-winded response, but I thought you might find it interesting.

One final question. Is Carson's surname Clarke. Because when I was a member on Ebay, I had a mentor by the name of, Carson Clarke. He also Lived in Canada, might be just a coincidence.

Thanks for taking the time out to read this marathon response.

Kind regards
Tom

Tom, that is the reality of the Internet these days. Programs out there, simple programs, are $1,000+ and go way up into the $10,000's. These programs offer 1/100th of what we offer here at WA for $359 per year and this is what happens when you base your business on "big high ticket sales, low value" versus building an incremental and highly valuable business over time.

Back in 2005 when we started out as a "keyword list" site, our price was $359.88 for a yearly membership. Our price now is $359, so $0.88 cheaper though we invest millions annually into our platform here and we now offer services that are unparalleled across multiple industries (hosting, websites, tools, support, training, etc). That is how we behave in business, we care about people and we want to help people...that is our focus, not money.

In respect to starting at ZERO, we all started at ZERO with everything we started. It is the ONLY starting point. There is no other such starting point, but you have everything you need here at WA to create, grow and manage your online business.

I look forward to working with you moving forward.

PS. Carson's surname is not Clarke, just a coincidence. :)
