A success story I want to share !
Hi WA community I just wanted to share a success story with you all especially with the older members and beginners.
A couple of years ago I was working in a small family restaurant as a delivery man, my shift was only 4 hours a day from 10 am to 2 pm. The restaurant also wasn't open on the weekends because it was located in the industrial area where most companies were closed during the weekend so we didn't have much work and the owner decided it was more profitable to be closed then to open.
Having more than enough free time aside from my job I wanted to find something I can do in my spare time and earn something on the side to increase my monthly budget.
That was the first time I was introduced to affiliate marketing by a really good friend of mine. I will call him Jerry in this blog. Back in the day I had no idea how affiliate marketing works and to be honest I was skeptical about it.
I told him I don't have any knowledge or experience on the subject and he just said don't worry absolutely anyone can do it no matter of their age or experience trust me my 79-year old grandfather is doing it and he's making money from it !
I was shocked that someone of that age can even use computers back then ( no offense intended to any older members) but people in my country especially the elders are a bit old-fashioned and conservative and it is really rare for people that age to use computers and cell phones. It never crossed my mind that its possible for an 79-year old to make money online and I had no idea back then how to do it.
Few days after Jerry called me and asked me to come over to meet his granddad and to show me how his grandfather is making money with affiliate marketing.
So let me begin...
Jerry s granddad spent his life in the army special forces where he served as a sniperist. Hunting was also a great passion of his, so Jerry got an idea how he can monetize his granddads knowledge.
He bought him a laptop slowly started teaching him how to use it, first he was using it to read news portals, listen to his favorite music, he even opened a Facebook profile for him to connect with his army buddies.
Once he got a bit familiar with it Jerry asked him if he could write about optics used on rifles, guns and rifles in general, ammunition, accessories, knives and other survival equipment. Jerry told him it was a college project for him and it would mean a lot to him if he can help. He couldn't refuse to help his grandson but he didn't know that Jerry setup a blog website for him where he will be posting these reviews. Grandpa simply started writing reviews pros and cons of different rifles, scopes, and other equipment, simply typing it in Microsoft word.
Every weekend Jerry visited him and took everything he wrote, he also joined two affiliate programs one for Airsoft rifles and equipment and one for hunting equipment. Since you can't sell or promote real guns online in our country (not sure you can anywhere maybe some parts of the world lol). There are airsoft replicas of real guns and accessories that look identical to real ones.
Jerry took the reviews he wrote edited some text added headlines, images and affiliate links to them and uploaded it to his blog. He was doing that for about 6 months and he made about 1500$ in that period on commissions from airsoft equipment.
Then came his birthday and Jerry decided to surprise his granddad with the 1500$ he made from his blog. He cashed the money out and put in an envelope, then he wrote on a card "Happy birthday grandpa , this is what you made on the internet by writing those reviews I asked you to, you did a lot for me in life and thought me almost everything I know so I want to give something back to you, with love Jerry"
Grandfather couldn't believe his eyes as his pension was a bit lower than that amount he almost started crying, and then he asked Jerry can he teach him how to do that. This happened about 4-5 years ago. Today grandpa has 300 plus reviews on airsoft and hunting equipment and he earns around 3000$ per month roughly in passive income. Today he is 84 years old and he publishes reviews on his blog by himself, Jerry still helps him a little with his website and image editing but he does the most part by himself.
This is one of the most inspirational affiliate marketing stories I have heard in my life and I wanted to share it with you all so maybe some of you could also find motivation in it !!!
Maybe even some of you will make something similar for your grandparents or parents, always respect your elders because they made the world you live in today, and I think it would be great to give something back to them !!!
NOTE: It was never my intention to promote guns, hunting or any kind of animal abuse !!!!
Personally I am a huge animal lover and I do not support hunting or similar activities that include any kind of animal abuse.
