How Important is a Disclaimer for Your Website?
Saturday, February 10, 2018
Dear readers,
Have you ever asked yourselves the question: "How Important is a Disclaimer on Your Website?" If yes then read on, if no read on too as it can avoid some very expensive lawsuits.
As you probably have already read on Loes her blog post a month ago:
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.co......
about writing a medical disclaimer, did you know there are other disclaimers out there you should make use off too? Not only Medical, in general whatever you can think off to save yourselves a lawsuit case in the future.
If your website presents something not existing in our timeline or universe, let's say you write about anything not earth related, anything people should know the information you write should not be used as it cannot be held for true information as you write fantasy.
Example: in the 50ies a radio program announced that the Martians were landed and invading Earth, people jumped from the buildings and commit suicide, because they believed it is true. (should you ever see an Alien in front of you, maybe first blink your eyes, or ask if the person is an Alien, before you take rational decisions, and same is for a website you visit :) )
Now if this website is yours, put that in a disclaimer that your website is not the reality and you cannot hold responsible for any damage occurring out of your visitors behavior after reading your articles, because they thought it is real.
Best place is on the bottom of your website.
How many of you have an outer world website?

Thanks, an undercover agent played it into my hands, this UFO is a secret photo from Area 52 ;-) LOL
Also from Loes: Add an Affiliate Disclosure She includes a link to official FTC guidlines, which states "As for where to place a disclosure, the guiding principle is that it has to be clear and conspicuous. The closer it is to your recommendation, the better. Putting disclosures in obscure places – for example, buried on an ABOUT US or GENERAL INFO page, behind a poorly labeled hyperlink or in a “terms of service” agreement – isn’t good enough. Neither is placing it below your review or below the link to the online retailer so readers would have to keep scrolling after they finish reading. Consumers should be able to notice the disclosure easily. They shouldn’t have to hunt for it."
I put mine in a widget, right hand side of my site.
Best wishes,
Joe
The above FTC link is a lengthy read...the excerpt I quoted is under the heading "What About Affiliate or Network Marketing?", which is near the bottom of the document.

Thanks Joe,
All my policies, T&C, disclaimer are on the bottom page in the footer clearly to read and are displayed on each and every site.
Everyone needs to pay attention to this, so good idea to mention it here.
Have a great evening.
Stefan :)
