Google Chrome Marks HTTP Not Secure! 2018!
Sunday, February 11, 2018
Dear readers,
For all of you who have not upgraded their website with a SSL certificate (going from http to https), you better get quick in doing so as Google has announced that very soon, from July 2018 on, their Chrome browser will mark all unencrypted pages / websites as not secure! (http).
Should you not have upgraded by then, you will get penalized!!! If you host with Wealthy Affiliate you can easily turn SSL on in your Site Rubix Site Manager site.
Happy Affiliating!

So what exact steps do we take to avoid this? Chrome is my go-to browser and I would prefer to keep using it if possible.
Hi Hannah, you still can.
But it is important that your website has SSL certificate, WA has it on board, you just need to activate it. Do you need my help?
Stefan :)
Oh, I figured it out with some help. The free domain can't enable SSL, so I bought my own. But thanks! :)
Great to hear that, your own is better anyway to get you better ranked in Google, I suppose you bought a .com domain?
.org is widely used for non-profit organizations and gain easily trust with your readers. You can still sell off course. :) Depending on your niche this can be a good choice. In ranking your chances are equal to .com.
When I was looking, I didn't immediately see any .com availability. Definitely could have missed it though. I'm in dog toys, so not sure if that makes a difference.
Add content that first puts your help for dogs in need and help readers how they can help too, appearing first as content, then you are good to go.
Thanks so much for the info,as I have.not got a website yet...I love learning from all of you experienced people here on WA! So when that time comes I'll be that much more informed. So thank you ToliNoli:)
Hello Lori, my pleasure, welcome to Wealthy Affiliate, whenever you have questions ask us as we are here to help each other.
Stefan :))
So all websites hosted on siterubix.com will be penalized by Google per the above? Can we avoid it by simply not using Chrome?
It has nothing to do with Chrome, just that Chrome shows it too.
And Google will start hurting your rankings till you convert, I guess WA will implement a solution.
They always do. :))
Can't you Google it Wayne? :)) LOL
Goggles to Google! :))
But yes, it is possible to see time and space moving while you goggle under water, no that I have seen any.... :))
Good day to you!
As I still haven’t got a website, I presume when I get one, this upgrade will be automatically done? Or not?
Wayne
Not quite automatic Wayne. When you buy your own domain name and have it hosted at WA you'll need to flick a switch to turn on SSL. Then there's a few more steps covered in this video SSL: Activation, No Padlock, Mixed Content and Google Search Console
No not automatically Wayne, you can turn it on when you go to see the overview of your website in the Site Rubix Site Domains site. :)
There you also turn on Site Speed. :)
Very easy, let me know if you need any help.

Hi Stefan - Thanks for the heads up. I have one site and it's got SSL turned on, so I'm good to go.
WA has us pretty much covered when it comes to anything that Google can throw at us. Have a great day.
Hi Patrick, you are welcome.
Yes they have.
Have a great day too. Seeing you around ;-)
