Pagespeed GTMetrix Pingdom WebPagetest! Does It Even Matter?

Dear fans and readers,

Does speed matter? Some say yes, some say no! What do you say? Should our website be as fast as possible. Do you check your speed once in a while, or only if you notice it is slow all the sudden? Like me, who noticed that last night and also this morning, my website is extremely slow. Where does that come from all the sudden?

I didn't change anything, so what do you do? Well I remembered some posts from the past from some community members to use GTMetrix, as apparently it is very reliable. Now look this result, it sais server related speed issues:

Now since I am launched, I like to optimize speed and find culprits to improve.

What is the js? it says 0 and F score. What can I do?

The next two are F as well and behind it sais it is Server, so that can't be me then, all other below are very high in the green, possible I can do some small improvements there, but the culprit in this case seems to be the js and the server related issues.

So I sent this picture to Site Support with the kindly request to check it out and fix it. The response was, that according to their site speed test with Google Pagespeed Insight my website is quite good and nothing needs to be done, look the results, they sent me their results:

For the desktop: 90 / 100

For the mobile: 81 / 100

Does that mean GTMetrix is crap?

I wanted to know the truth, what is up with all these so called speed test websites. Google gives you a lot and according to some blog posts I read, they say Google is not so reliable as it does not give enough details and how they measure the speed, but GTMetrix is very reliable?

Say what? Yeah, now I did the test again and it comes with the same result. So I continued looking and then found an interesting blog, that Pingdom and Webpagetest are besides GTMetrix all three good ways, to find out where speed related issues can be found.

Now here is my Pingdom speed test, again I got Red areas

And here is the Webpagetest again Red areas

We can see all come with Red areas of speed problems.

Are all these speed test services crap?

And that brings me then to following questions:

  1. Is Google Pagespeed Insight the only reliable one out there?
  2. Is my site slow now or not, does something need to be done or not?
  3. Can I fix that or do I need to go back to Site Support?

I like to hear your opinions on this and your own experiences. Any help is much appreciated!

Leave me your comments below.

Checked all your sites... they load fine wIthin 3 secs

---> have you checked your connection with your, provider?

Great link by the way
Lots to work on
Has nothing to,do with server

Have confidence in sitesupport, they are great

Wanted to edit my typos and deleted ... uh... bad sight
Checked my sites with gmeteix, no errors

Perhaps Check your connection with your provider
Happened to me long,ago
And it was my connection

Just checked my sites... all seems ok

I think as far as shared hosting goes, Enom is one of the best. But it is shared hosting. Your theme code can also be a factor when it comes to site speed.

I know Kyle & Carson don't like add on costs, but sometimes I think it would be nice if they offered VPS and/or Dedicated hosting as an option. There may come a time I want to switch. It would be nice if people didn't have to move their site to another platform to do so.

I believe if Kyle and Carson would add VPS services, many would upgrade and never leave again, good and win for both sides.

Please note, see my answer to Fleeky, all ran fine, till i launched and my website crashed (not by my fault btw... :( )

So why do I have issues now and not before?

My 2nd and 3rd website here run without issues... and one is a forum... so even more heavy as my current website having these issues....

I had a look at WPengine, if not otherwise possible I will have to move out, this can't go on forever, very frustrating and a big disappointment as I was satisfied for over a year and now this...

Hi Stefan
I will follow your situation with interest .

David

Pray it will be resolved, so we can all get back to business and present WA as a good platform out there...

Much to ponder in your post. Thanks..
Jerry

I am desperate, what can I do, it is just not getting fixed, and this goes on now for 2 weeks, I want to continue and write my reviews for Jaaxy and WA and more posts my fans are waiting for, instead I am doing trouble shooting every day :(

Let me preface this by saying I have never had any issue with site support response rates. I also do not have too many queries.

To me this is the biggest problem with this setup in WA, we cannot get answers to the more technical type issues (based on posts like this).

I suppose we get spoilt by quick responses, but most of these are to small issues.

So when we get a major problem and it takes days to get a response we do not know where we stand. The question then becomes "What is happening, I have a business to run, and no answers"

Perhaps Site Support is right with their response but there must be something with the way they answer the questions because people just do not accept their answer. Especially when we provide other conflicting evidence, which seemingly gets ignored.

Following this with interest

I agree with your response. It's a very thoughtful opinion and something I have come to consider myself from my interactions with Site Support.

Thanks for sharing.

I have had ongoing issues with my SiteSpeed since the WA servers crashed a number of weeks ago.

WA Support says the same thing to me it is not the servers. I changed my theme, optimized images, got rid of a plug to no avail.

They sent me the same image you received the home page showing green for mobile and desktop (but the individual page loading times are all slow (yellow and red).

I think they just go through the motions and don't bother taking us seriously concerning site speed. I noticed the loading time was slow right after it came back online.

I wrote to GTMetrix because I wanted to hire them. Actually, my site is small so they recommended a freelancer within my budget.

The point is they also said it is the server.

I know another member here who had similar issues to me and when he said he would have to leave WA they fixed his site. He got the speed back.

But they ignored me - meaning they don't believe me when I say it is the servers or something they did during or after the crash. It is very frustrating. My problem is I am in the Wealthy Affiliate Super Challenge (my only website).

How can I promote WA when I am having these kinds of issues? And how can I change servers?

A different member gave me some good advice for now. He said his site is also showing yellow and red in SiteSpeed but he is still making sales.

He advised me to keep building my content and as I start getting lots of traffic then tackle the speed issue.

I will hire someone with the expertise needed to get my SiteSpeed back and if they also insist it is the servers I will go directly to Kyle or Carson.

Because that was another problem after dealing unsatisfactorily with support on this one issue I couldn't get directly in touch with the owners.

I will be very interested to hear how this turns out for you. I know you are not alone with this issue.

And me too. I would be very happy to hear what others have to say and any helpful suggestions.

Best of luck,

Devan

Check the look up time on pagespeed and Pingdom. This is how long it takes your hosting provider to find your site.
