Dear readers,

Everyone once in a while moves to a new place or country, changes his email and or phone and we all to often do not realize that this can have serious implications to your social media and or other services you might be connected with.

Then comes the day you are settled and want to use your social media account or login to that website you have an account and discover you did not update your data and get locked out.

With the websites using double authentication even worse, as you use your phone number for that. You could even have lost your phone, (although a new sim you could receive from the phone provider unless you bought a fixed phone number from the super market...)

For the double authentication, make sure you setup a third in case you lose your phone number else this can happen to you:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jetrbby80316/blog/locked-out...

And that hurts your business as you will not be able to use those services.

Keep all your passwords and login details in a safe location, perhaps an extra file in a safe at the bank or so.

Ever considered what happens when your house burns down or gets destroyed because of a tornado? Yes you lose all your data to stay connected with your services.

Therefore, think through how you are connected now and make sure you have a backup plan in case something happens.

Let me hear your thoughts on this.

Your friend and fan,

Stefan, ToLiNoLi

This is good advice. I have my login info written down (hard copy).I have it also on my google drive. I also have alternate email addresses for recovery use. There is also(at FB) a facility where you can name another contact person ( and email) in case you are locked out. Not taking chances

Excellent, you are well prepared, a great example how to do it. :)

Wow Stefan. You just increased my work load for today. I have absolutely never thought of this. Now, I have to tend to this today. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention.
All the best,
Wendi

You are welcome Wendi, happy to hear I could help you with my post. :)

Good post, Stefan.
I think I am a reckless person- all my accounts are always open on my computer- no one else uses it. It's so very quick and convenient to use them.
But in case of a tornado or fire- yes, I need the passwords. Thanks...::))

Never had power outages and fried your computer? :P

I have to admit Vera, I am the very same as you, only because my memory is so bad at remembering passwords lol. xxx

No, I prefer fried eggs or fish....LOL Power outages can happen, but I can't remember what happens to saved passwords in this case. Also,I use CCleaner to clean the computer, and I unchecked passwords, so they remain saved...:)

Yep, I don't even remember where I write them...Need to fix this, though...xxx

That goes for me too Vera. We will both sort something out. xxx

Yep!:))

You better read our upcoming article about how you can learn this without knowing you are learning.... ;)

If you really want to know, put up your cooking equipment and throw your computer in your machine to be fried and see what happens.... :P

For you the same, our new story how you can learn without knowing you are learning.... :)

The Joker is here to solve all your problems.... :D

I will, I will and might even give you some chocolate if it's a good one. Where is it though?

Hope you are well today friend. xxxx

Anything, but not my computer. He was behaving strangely yesterday without your advice....LOL:..:))

Won't work with me- I always know that I am always learning...:)))

Great, you will be my guest of honor then. :)) It will come up in the next few weeks when our adventures will unfold and take the internet by storm on Planet Earth.... :D

Reading you here, I feel better. :) xx

Sounds proimising...:)

Looks like he is getting hot by himself and tells you this lol :P Make sure you have anti critter software to assist you keeping him healthy....

You will be surprised to see what this can do for you.... :))

Oh,thanks, I will try to do something about it....:)))

Is it my fault that he is getting hot? I didn't even give him a lot of time yesterday...He just like showing to me that he is the winner! lol...

Awww you are so kind Stefan, It will be a pleasure to be your guest of honour. Will look forward to it. Xxx

He needs cleaning if you have worked with him for a long time. His fans can get dusty over time and then the heat cannot be transported out of his body that well. If he is in a big box, you might want to clean his organs with a soft brush to free him from dust critters. :)

I do this every 6-12 months....

Great I will ask Agent Moonwalker to get you coffee and chocolates for that day. :)) xx

I got it done for me (for him ) something like 2 months ago- shouldn't be the reason....actually, he showed me the black screen in the midst of the working process.
Just trying not to think of it.Where are your thoughts, there goes energy.lol....

LOL .... :))

a black screen can mean many things, let me get you to the technical ones only for now. This can be many things:

A memory error (defect ram), Solution: use a memory check program to test your ram for defects.

A page file error (Windows uses your hard disk to work with data by default and might overwrite your data stored on the drive where it is doing this, then when Windows tries to access that data, it cannot read it as a part was overwritten.

Solution: make sure your page file is on a partition of your hard disk you are not using for anything else, you can add a partition and then tell Windows to use that space instead and disable it from your other drive)

It is never good to have your page file where your windows files of your operation system are (C drive) as this calls for problems sooner or later...

Additional tip: defrag your drives ones in a while, your windows will get faster as it sorts the files of access for you in an optimized way.

A corrupted driver or windows file.

A hardware fault, if you have hardware cards like graphics card, sound card, network card, over time they can get defect, nothing lives forever... worst case your mainboard and or CPU....

Malware and or virus infection, use Malwarebytes and a good antivirus to keep your pc clean of infections, do a scan once a week.

These are the main ones to look out for.

Good Luck, use a flashlight in that black hole, you might see where you are going... :P

Wow! That is real help... I looked at the computer forums- nothing of the kind....Thanks so much, Stefan...

:)))

Thank you and you are welcome. :)

Great post

Thank you so much. :)

This is so very true Stefan and you are right, we should also have a third authentication just in case as you never know what is round the corner these days. xxx

Yup never go alone into the forest of Guhula.... ;) xx

And who is that when they're at home lol. xxx

Mysterious creatures must live there as strange things are happening when people return.... :O

Kaju as example good idea.

With FaceBook as well?

yes

Great advice. Thanks for sharing:)

You are welcome Rika, the pleasure is mine. :)

Thanks for the reminder, Stefan. It is very important to do that. If you change your physical info, your net info must be changed as well.
Hennie

You are welcome Hennie,

It can happen in a second of a moment you do not realize and then it is too late. So now is the time to make sure you have a backup plan and stay connected.

Stefan

Thanks Stefan, hard lessons learned. I know what inspired this post!

Kaju

Yes, I thought I bring it up so others can learn from it too. :)

Stefan
