Do You Use Photos or Graphics, What Works Best?
Hello everyone,
What works more appealing for our readers, photos or graphics, from small to medium?
With graphics I mean everything that is not a real photo, often to be found in icons, vectors and so on.
These can look very good. But I ask myself, what is better to use in our business?
When should we use photos and when should we use graphics?

The answers already given are very good. There is a place for both. I personally like photos and use fairly large ones. I only use photos that relate to what I am writing about.
I think you have to decide what you are trying to convey, then choose the type that goes well with your article.

I think they each have their place. An infographic, for instance, can be very sharable on social media. On the other hand, I have a hard time trusting blogs, especially review posts, without pictures. To me, photos make the blog seem more real and relatable.
Blogs without pictures, or not enough pictures are very hard to keep your concentration on the content, then when even the font and colour of the font are difficult to read, bye bye.... Your blog needs to be a nice read and easy going.
Depends Stefan... hard to say
Rather artistic mood
Not real logics...
Take care
Good to read you!
Would you react differently if you would sell a poem book if you see a graphic of the book as a small icon or as a real photo as a small icon?
Ha, now I got you thinking lol ;-)
Good to write you. :))
Well that is what I ask myself, that is why I put the question up, to find out what would work best to initiate action from the reader. :))
How far is your poem book Fleeky?
Hi Stefan - that's a great Q. However, I think the answer is - it depends what you're trying to achieve.
For information, a graphic is probably best.
Howefver, for engagemtn I read that people are most attracted to photos with people in them - and probably also small furry animals :-)
Mos the the images on my site are 'fillers', there to make the page look attractive, appealing and easy to read, and I use photos with people and aminals in them. Of course, they should be relevant in some way and I caption them to give them a relevancy.

Hi Ian,
How about a product, as a product description, would you take a graphic camera or a photo of any kind of camera to get a reaction from the reader if it is about a camera. What does our mind say is more attractive to perform an action afterwards.
I mean we know that with coulors that it works, we use Green, Blue, Yellow, Red mainly for performing actions.
What is your take on that? :))
Well, if you're showing a produt then you want a photo of the actual procut. I'd be very wary of an artist's impression! :-)
However, if you want to explain the parts, say an exploded view of the camer then a graphic will be easier to understand.

I personally think that a photo conveys a message better than a graphic image.
I use photos especially for head line images and graphics only if it carries over my message perfectly.
I also resize images, taking into consideration phone and tablet users.
I think younger generatiions born into the social media age will prefer more detailed images over simplified drawings.
Thank you for your thorough use.
What would you say if it is about taking action on your side where a customer has to press a button, should the picture above the button be a photo or graphic, will it change the clicking behavior?
What is your take on when to use graphics and when to use photos?
If we have to take an action on something on the website, would we be eager to click take the deal if there are real photos or with graphics?
Or won't that matter?
Stefan
For me I use the graphics for explaining the subject and photos are a bid of both explaining and just get a better feeling with what I write about.
I think photos can say it all graphics is still reading also
Ok I see what you mean, thanks for your experience, still thinking what to do. :)) I use mainly photos on my blog posts, but for action taking I use graphics and photos, so here my dilemma, what is better, does it make a difference if someone needs to take action...
It is all in the mind of the people. :))
I don't yet have my website dressed up that far. Eventually I will put all that into the site.
Thanks for approving me onto your network.

It depends of which niche it is.
A travel blog = only photos
An affiliate marketing blog = mostly graphics
