Chat Messenger On Your Mobile or Computer?

Saturday, April 21, 2018

Dear readers,

Who of you is using a chat messenger on mobile or computer, or both? What are your experiences. Do you use it for chatting with friends, share photos and videos, or also for business?

Following chat applications are the most well known:

  • Whatsapp
  • Facebook Messenger
  • Telegram
  • Viber
  • Google Chat
  • Skype
  • Discord
  • Slack

Some of these chat services can be used and integrated in your Wordpress theme and offer an excellent way to bring your news to your closest followers, family and friends. Have you ever considerd this?

Besides, there are also chat plugins which only work to interact with your visitors directly, a kind of helpdesk chat and offers you this way direct communication. If you have no time for this you may consider an AI bot doing this for you, but that works un-personal I think.

What do you think, should we use Chat Messengers as another way to reach new readers?

Who of you has experience already and likes to share it with us?

Let's discuss,

Stefan, Editor in Chief, ToLiNoLi

I mostly use messenger, but I have whatsapp too. While my friends and family are curious about what I'm up to, they have no interest in participating in anything that I do. So, I'm not sure that any chat messenger is useful for me at this time. I hope it works out better for you.

The question is how can we use a messenger to reach more and new people besides of friends and family.

If we add a chat tool like whatsapp to our website as added service, perhaps new customers are willing to add you as potential business.

Off course, use a business phone number for whatsapp only could be a solution to keep strangers away from your personal chats.

I have used messenger to send my WA link to prospective customers from other groups who asked for more info. I did not generate any business from it.

Interesting. Did you do a feedback request and asked your receivers if the information you provided to them was useful?

I think it can help to find out what can be the reason they did not conduct business out of that and change the way you did it, to convert in possible sales.

What do you think?

That sounds like the logical next step. I will do that over the weekend. Thanks for your insight.

You are welcome, will be nice to hear from you about the outcome, please post an update so we can learn from you.

Stefan :)

Will do. Have a great weekend!

Thank you, you too! :))

I use Skype on the computer only. But messager on both.

Tried and True

Elaine

Would you like it if your friend(s) send you a link and picture / info about a blog they wrote and would you open it to go and actually read it?

I use WhatsApp, Messenger and Hangouts to talk with friends ant send and receive pics

Do you think your friends would like it to receive info on your blog posts?

Yes I would say that they would be very interested in it.

Thank you for your insight. :)

I think it would be a great idea after getting your website well established.

I was thinking so too. It would be something to work to and see what is needed that it runs smoothly too.

I think it sounds like a good idea, but I think it might be too time-consuming while still building a website. But I have been thinking about it for a later date :)

Yes you are right. It is something we should consider when we are up and running so we can allocate time for it. :)

I think it is a huge market and we should think of it as another way to attract the audience to us. :)

I do agree with you Stefan :)

Great :) have a successful week :)

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for posting this. The bulk of my morning thus far has been to look into the logistics of doing just that. I'm looking at Quick Chat right now. They have demo chat there where you can see in real time and input a comment. http://www.techytalk.info/wordpress/quick-chat/

Having a live discussion portal within your website to discuss topics related to a particular niche seems a like a win win. Hope to see a lot of comments with applied knowledge on this thread.

Cheers, Brad

Hi Brad,

Same here, I am considering this as well, but before in doing so it will be good to hear what others think of this.

The do's and don'ts, experiences and and and...

It will be beneficial to exchange experience together, what do you say?

Don’t use for my site, just FaceTime with family, but I will have to consider the other choices to possibly innovate my sites connection to the visitors.
Thanks,
Marcus

Hi Marcus,

May I ask how many websites you maintain and how you organize that to keep it running smoothly?

Thanks,
Stefan

I’m sorry, maybe you misunderstood, I have currently one site and only use FaceTime for family talk outside of my site, but I would like to consider adding in your chat application choices to make a better user experience.
Thanks,
Marcus

Yeah I did, so you would say chatting experience and offer your customer to chat on topics of your choice?

That can be interesting and useful indeed.

Thank you Marcus.
Stefan :)

I do whatsapp quite intensively for my local business. It's great to be in the same chat group with like-minded people. I guess it's not possible for WA comm.

:)
Joe

Wow great. :))

And do you share posts from your website with them?

Sounds good Joe
We do have Live Chat of course, how do you think that compares?
Chrissie :)

WA chat is on WA, a similar service for our own website could be good, niche directed.

I use Facebook messenger only..... and not much at all.

Do you think if you would post a new blog to your Facebook messenger contacts that this can be a help for you getting more readers coming regularly to your website?

Do you think your contacts would like that?

I do that now....with Messenger....Takes a lot of time...

You do this manually I guess? Did you know there are plugins which can do this automatically for you?

How is the reaction so far from the people you message your newest blogs?

I am not a WordPress site...

What platform do you use and why?

Drupal?
PHP / HTML5?
Other?

I've used and have What's App, Skype (of course) and Google Chat a little.

Which one do you think is the best one to use?

Are you multitasking on 3 phones at the same time? Or just switching inbetween?

Would you consider to add this as a service to your website?

One phone. Used What's App when my family was out of the country last year. Worked well. Best, probably Skype but depends I don't think we could do with Skype what we did with What's App which is why we used it.

Same here, I have many friends in the USA and we use Whatsapp for calls and to stay in contact. Skype we use on the computer.

yes, sir. where are you? my wife and daughter were in the Philippines and Whatsapp worked great

East Europe :)
