More than 200,000 people answered the call, and 100 candidates for a project called Mars One have now been chosen. Founded by a Dutch entrepreneur who joined forces with a reality TV producer, the project proposes sending the first group of human colonists to Mars by 2025. Mars One is a not-for-profit foundation.
It is Mars One's goal to establish a human settlement on Mars.The only catch-you can't come back! Apparently with costs in the billions of dollars and the difficulty of launching from the surface of Mars, would make a return trip highly unlikely.
Mars is about 140 million miles from earth and the thin atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide.The gravity is about a third of Earth’s and temperatures average 80 degrees below zero.
Using only existing technology,the Mars One program will be sending ahead communication satellites, two rovers and several cargo missions to the red planet where environmental units will then be waiting for the astronauts when they arrive.
For a mission to Mars, “you need people who are smart, work well under pressure and can make difficult decisions. You also need people willing to not return to earth.
So if you were accepted,and made the final cut would you leave it all behind here on Earth and live out the rest of your days on Mars?
-as for me..The thought of living on a desert like planet,in cramped quarters with a few people I don't know,just does not seem too appealing.Although we have thoroughly polluted this planet and people everywhere seem to have enormous problems living together,this planet we call earth is my home and where I choose to stay.

I could understand people exploring the West, but this outer space stuff is too much for me!

Well for me, guys, I am a nut about pretty places, so that would be the #1 objection to Mars. Sub-zero temps #2 objection. leaving earth #3 objection, that's enough for me.
No way, I love it here on earth, but I can understand why this might be interesting for some people, to be the first..........
It certainly sounds more attractive an offer than Poland's manned space flight to the Sun.
No thank you TJ. Where as I am smart, I wouldn't like to spend my days there (Only joking on the first one). I read about this before actually. There is actually a 10% chance you may return, entertainment will be provided online so you will be able to keep in tune with thinks on earth. I wonder if they plan to populate, I couldnt imagine a baby being born there.
Hi Jason- I believe that by the time this actually happens, and people are actually on their way to Mars, more than likely it will either be a two way trip or they may have the option of catching a ride back on a future mission.
Not for me but then I'm a 70 year-old "Old Fart". I'm sure they don't want me to go anyway . Ha.ha

Hi Sylvia- I do believe it will be sooner than later and like I said to Jason that when it actually happens it more than likely will be a round trip- for those that want to return anyway.

Is it possible that a secret space program has already put people
( conscious Minds) on Mars? by using advanced technology that manipulates space and time and transfers consciousness into artificially generated life forms which have been manufactured on Earth and sent to Mars - using nanotechnology that's light years ahead of what is generally accepted. It's all possibly smoke and mirrors and bread and circuses to keep the masses looking one way while they should be looking the other ...it's just a thought!
Tesla was doing stuff years ago that baffled some of the greatest minds that ever existed. I think Tesla did not disclose everything but kept the best bits back. Young scientists not traditionally trained are perhaps intuitively putting those Tesla puzzle pieces together which will help take ordinary people into a multiverse of wonder and creativity without being bound by man made politics which have led to death and destruction on this beautiful place we call earth.
