Duh moment

Ever have those days, or times, you just want to say duh-huh or just duh? (Yep, I'm redneck!) Well, I had that today, and a big one!

If you have read my profile you know my health situation and being out of work, filing for disability, etc. Well since my leave of absence has expired (FMLA) the company terminated my position as they would not make accommodations for me to perform any other job they have, plus the liability in case I would have an "episode" on the job. So, I was told to contact employment security commission to sign up for unemployment since they dismissed me. So I did.

In the state of NC, you have to do your weekly certification plus apply to five (5) jobs per week. I was told to do this while they were getting my information together from the other state I worked in to combine it as the time-frame for both had to be used. So, after I go through all of this for four (4) weeks, I just felt something was off because when I would file my weekly certification it would tell me that I'm not monetarily eligibile.....what?!!!

I called the NC local office as I could not get through on the State office and they told me I had to file through the other state. Then I went online to proceed to do this and it said I had a claim pending already....what?!!! I call their office and they tell me the funds were sent to NC but NC sent the funds back because I was not eligible for payment in their timeframe....what?!!!!

So why in the crap did no one tell me this in the first place? I went through all this mess for four (4) weeks and I had to make my own phone calls to find this out....DUH!

Other than pray, what is a person to do?

One good thing I found out though today--the insurance on my car loan is continuing to make the payments up until Feb 2018, then it will be paid off!!! Thank God!! But what good it does me as I am not allowed to drive....duh.

In the meantime, still awaiting disability hearing, unable to drive, unable to work, no income....ss/dd.

But if you find yourself in a situation like this, don't let it go on as long as I did. Call Them Sooner!

That's my rant. My fingers are tired.

Thanks for taking time to read.

Blessings.

Tammy

Wow! I am so lucky I still have a good job with understanding bosses that let me work around my needs...coming in late every day since mornings are not my friend and staying late, taking days off when I need etc.

I am scared of attempting to ever apply for disability. It sounds like a nightmare.

I am sorry you have to deal with such a mess!
Jessica

I can't understand why we pay them to NOT help us in return!

Sorry to hear your situation. My sister finds herself out of work at the moment and it does get frustrating having to jump through hoops to qualify for UI. I hope something pops up to give you some relief.

Thank you. Hope it works out for your sister as well.

Tammy,

The bureaucratic requirements for those in need seem to be excessive for money they paid in but on the flipside, you see many people not in need receiving assistance for money they did not pay in. It makes little sense. I hope you get through this challenge with your sanity. I cannot deal with the bureaucratic insanity. Jay

AMEN!! I have to try to maintain composure or it will put me in the hospital for days....

I went through a similar situation. You cannot reason with unreasonable people running the unreasonable.

So TRUE! Sorry you had to go through it as well. What do they expect people to do?

Hi Tammy, these 'official systems' wherever you live, often seem to make absolutely no sense at all! I am having a similar battle at the moment. It frequently makes me question whether it's my sanity... but I know it's their crazy procedures. DUH!!

The positive that I can see is, at least I am building up my resilience to take control of my own destiny at last! Thanks to these nonsensical procedures I am quickly learning how not to do business and how important it is to treat clients with respect! Good luck, Sue :)

Thank you Sue. I don't know why we pay these people with our hard-earned money where in turn they cannot or will not help us back. I'm grateful for the Medicaid for my health but it has limitations and I get food stamps, the minimum for single unemployed person who is well below poverty standards but that doesn't cover the whole month--but I have to make it enough. I just have to smile and carry on--By the Grace of God!!

Tammy, I'm proud of your resilience. I'll be praying that you'll stick with WA all the way to the bank! Be blessed.

Thank you. I appreciate the prayers.

Pick up the Duhs and get on getting it done!

Guess it was a DUH-day!!!
