One of my recent training tutorials is on finding a niche market so you may want to read it: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/marketing-think-before-you-act/finding-a-niche-market Kyle has a tutorial on this if you are Premium: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/the-core-fundamentals-of-researching-niches

Here is a link i wrote to Google's Free Webmaster's course to help you to get moving in the right direction; http://jaaxyaffiliatekeywordtool.com/google-seo-training

Some Suggestions for Members:

1. Realize that Internet Marketing is a Business, not a get rich scheme, and that business practices apply. This will become more important as you go along. Sooner or later you should create a Business Plan. SBA.gov is free.

2. Don't look for shortcuts in your training. Start with https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/online-entrepreneur-certification-getting-started-level-1/how-to-make-money-online Make sure you do the exercises or assignments.

3. Know that Internet marketing is a simple process:

A. Find a small market within a larger market (niche) where the need is great, the completion is low or moderate, and the readers are buyers rather than tire kickers. (Read this twice.)

B. Build a single product website or an information website which is much broader. Eventually you may want both but do one thing at a time.

C. Blog from your site everyday when you start. Later you can go to three times each week. Make sure you have good content and that there are about 400 words minimum on pages but 1500 is better. Post can vary in lenght but have some 1500 word pages. This is a lot of work. Consider having others help you with your writing, perhaps fivverr.com. Use pics and make sure you link from the pics to your products or services. https://www.fiverr.com

D. Attract visitors to your site, focusing on buyers. Use the social sites like Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Digg, Twitter, etc. (I use the Sociable Plugin with WordPress). If you use PPC, focus on buyers rather than visitors (tire kickers).

E. Consider having a second site that promotes WAU and JAAXY. I have been paying my annual tuition that way as long as I've been here. It is not very difficult to earn several times your annual tuition but you can earn much more.

F. For some very good free training from ClickBank by video, go to: https://support.clickbank.com/entries/23062206-4-Steps-to-Affiliate-Success I just read watched these videos again.

G. Consider drop shipping. Also, plan to create your own products to sell on the Internet. If the business gets too big, as it has for my family members, farm out the work. I think that selling your own stuff is the best way to reduce competition and to gain customers quickly (such as with Etsy.com).

Note: Our family has always been product marketers, not affiliate marketers but I do have some affiliate marketing sites. Two of my granddaughters make baby clothes and have about a dozen employees. They are putting their husbands through college that way. One granddaughter earns a third of a baby changing blankket company. She wants to start another company now which she solely owns. My #3 son is a vet. He has 15 kids so has always had a business on the side. He sold IrishFluteStore.com a while back and is now in the herb business where he makes a lot of money. I use to sell books and flagpoles, but am now pretty much retired from books. I still work about a dozen sites.

Steve (Ivetriedthat.com) wrote a great post on how to succeed here. He allowed me to make a video of the main points: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/10-things-down-and-10-important-things-ive-learned#

I update each site every week, some more often.

Good Hunting!

Hi John, thanks for following me! I'm impressed with the tutorials you've put together as I read your profile, and it's great to have one of the top 50 in my network now. One of my initial WA goals is to follow all of the top 100 as, if you've made it to that rank, you must be doing something right here at WA.

As for me, I've been on the other side of online marketing (helping others market their business) for almost 20 years. Now it's time to take that knowledge and do something for myself. I am very excited to do some affiliate marketing of my own and make a little extra FOR MY FAMILY & MYSELF :) I believe in all I've seen here at WA which is why I quickly made the choice to go premium yesterday...just 3 days into my trial period.

If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out. I look forward to keeping in touch.

Greetings from New Jersey. I don't know how you found me, but I appreciate the follow. I certainly will follow you back and take advantage of all the training you've provided us, Lord knows, I need all the help I can get. Being retired from teaching was Ok for a bit, then I got " itchy" to get involved in something new. So here I am trying to navigate my way to building my first site. It's the techy stuff that slows me down. But sooner or later I'll get it!! One can only hope! Ha!
Take good care!

Good afternoon John,

My dear Sir, your more than long list leaves me breathless. I already have not much breath left starting with Wealthy Affiliate half Jan. I have told a couple of people here that I got a computer against my wish and will end of 2013. I consider myself belonging to the hand written letter generation. I only used it for email/photos and following Summits or Master classes on subjects of my interest.
Voila, here I am now making websites, for me a huge step into this modern world. I have done the first 10 lessons and think I should repeat as I barely understood half of it. With getting some 80 to 100 emails a day I feel overworked sometimes but do learn things on the way.I have now come into the, for me, nice speed of writing a post a week for the 2 websites I have and I admit I am even proud of it.
Anyhow, if you need an interesting source for writing do look at my post on the world library and my "battle" these days, last post, is also nice.
Thank you for the follow and good luck.

Regards, Taetske

Hello John! This is one of the best laid out getting started or getting back on track marketing guides I've seen. I look very forward to returning and learning from your info here.

P.S. It must be nice to have a family of entrepreneurs around you. Sounds like a wonderful family you have. And also thank you for your service for our country. They sent my dad on a destroyer to Korea once and then into the China sea Russian controlled waters to taunt their navy. He did not like that too well.

see you again..

Hi, John.
Paul Mindra here from Ontario, Canada.

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your network. I graciously accept by following you back.

Nice to know that you have been at WA for almost 10 years now. I have no intentions of ever leaving also. Wealthy Affiliate University is a 'way of life' for me now. Best investment I have ever made in myself.

Thank you for sharing your bio and accomplishments so far.

I look forward to learning, sharing and serving with you as we all move forward here at our own pace.

I am very pleased to make your acquaintance.

Kindest Regards,

Paul.

Thank you, John. I am glad to be here.

I am a former Executive Chef and spent almost 12 years in the Niagara On The Lake region of Ontario. It is known as 'Wine Country' and I was responsible in the opening of the first 'Winery Restaurant' in Canada back in 1995.

It was then called 'Hillebrand's Vineyard Cafe.' It is now called 'Trius Winery at Hillebrand.'

If you are ever back up here again, definately go to Niagara on The Lake and enjoy some Winery Tours.

Very beautiful part of Ontario with Niagara Falls just half an hour away.

Again, thank you for thw warm welcome.

Best regards,

Paul.

Wow John I'm honored to have you in my network. 10 years at WA, not bad! I'm still a rookie here, but have been working with print and online marketing, web design and SEO for years now. I'm excited for the future to come.

Best of success to you and your family! They seem to be true entrepreneurs all of them.

Cheers,
Stina

This is a very informative blog. I've just renewed my WA premium membership after allowing to to go dormant. I lost my websites, sadely. The good news is that I'm reinvigorated and I'm starting from the first WA lesson. No short cuts. This article has been a great motivator as I restart my journey.

Hey, John, I find your post very interesting; I know you're kidding because an 84 years man, is a man we ought to be anxious to hear from. One wise man is reported to comment that if we neglect the wisdom of those living or dead, we're domed to failure. Write again soon, I'm one of your fans.
