The Jury's Still Out.

It's been an interesting exploration, this MEDIUM platform thing I've been doing for the past month.

It felt like coming home in a way. I've found a lot of congenial folks there, wanna-be writers and such who are into the craft of creative writing (rather than content writing).

There are many highly successful writers on it who do both styles of writing and many more aspiring sorts. It's a cool place for the wordsmiths among us.

I have been having fun putting together "short-form" stories (some as small as 150 words) on the platform and I think I've found a home for my Inner Peace Symptom riffs.

I am remembering how good I am at doing the short stuff. And I did discover that I CAN, indeed, write something or other every single day of the week if I like. (The posts just have to be short and not too convoluted.)

I was extremely frustrated by this perceived shortcoming of mine (not being able to do more than a couple or three good posts each month)...until I realized that I do take a long time to write my long-form bits.

Mostly that's because there are a heck of a lot of moving parts in there.

The problem is, there's little challenge in the short-form for me. Short-form doesn't develop me in my craft. This Medium exploration has been a reminder of why I wanted to go beyond the short form.

Developing a blog using WordPress and learning about the SEO nuances of the whole thing as well as getting good at turning the words into an "experience" for my readers have been a really sweet challenge for me and I've been happy with my progress in it.

This excursion into hanging with the writing crowd has been a reality check, I think. It's like going home to find out that you really don't quite belong there any more. Sheesh!

It seems to me that the Wealthy Affiliate universe challenges me to push myself more and helps me reach for better in a way that the other one doesn't.

Hmmm....

Not sure where any of this is taking me, but I do know I need to do some more pondering on how to integrate the advantages of each of the platforms into my own writing thing.

Hope you're doing better at navigating your own landscape.

Wishing you the best on your Medium journey. I started writing on there a few months ago as a stress reliever of sorts. Keep at it; writing on the platform can open up doors you wouldn't have imagined

Thanks for stopping by Kj.

If I haven't posted on Medium for awhile I will import a post from my blog.
I think it is called laziness.
Michael.

Netta, thanks for sharing your experience with Medium. I used to like reading various topics on Medium then stopped for health reasons. Your experience there has me intrigued to check it out again. You will get it figured out eventually.

Thanks, Brenda!

Keep striving, Netta! I joined Medium a week ago, but as of yet, I have not had much time to peruse it!
