My WA "Ask" project's coming along well. I try to ask for comments on old posts at least four or five days a week, going through my list of older stuff.

I've been doing this for a while now, and my nebulous tagline -- Minding Meaning and Mana -- has a lot of space for me to explore.

Since it's not so focused as something like, say, getting proper tennis balls or something, I do tend to go off in weird tangents that may not quite work for the people who are reading the things.

Getting you guys to look at the posts and tell me what you think about them, and observing the reactions to them has been invaluable feedback for me. I'm learning that some things I find really fascinating are just "meh" -- not much response. Other things that are just regular for me, things I take for granted, seem to engender more responses.

So far I've only found one post that's gone dark -- nothing works on it and I'm debating whether I want to re-do the thing or just trash it.

As a writer, this whole exercise has been a revelation to me. I am getting a feeling for what works and what doesn't, the formats and themes that evoke more commentary and more sharing of stories and thoughts, and the ones that just don't fly.

I got through what I was calling "writer's block" okay, but then I figured out that it isn't for-real writer's block when what you're doing is trying to find a direction to take a very large topic and present a view of it that is counter-intuitive but right on.

Sometimes, too, the delayed end-result might be because, like wine that's busy fermenting or whatever it is wine does, the thing is just not READY yet.

You haven't done enough research. You haven't figured out what your stance is. You are one confused puppy looking at a wide, wide world you never actually noticed before. ACK!

I think I've decided to let go of deadlines and just let the things ripen their own way. I've decided that I'm not gonna put out a story before it's ready to get up on stage and do a tap dance or something.

We'll see how that one goes....

Hope you guys are all enjoying your journeys.

Great idea to "let things ripen their own way". Don't stress with deadlines. Just work at your own pace.

Yes, yes, yes. Know, I think, where you're coming from and agree. I'm currently experiencing 'end of transmission white noise' after finishing a post that ended up twice as long as I wanted it to be and all the while I was wanting to get onto another post that needs research but I don't want to research because that takes to long but I know it's the best way to go as the article needs to do itself justice. Thanks.

Thanks for your thoughts, Twack.

Welcome.

I have let deadlines go for now also. Doing many things other than writing here or on my websites have taken a little back priority to training and several offline projects that are giving me immediate revenue which is needed sometimes.

Still following goals, but realistic in the balance of time with family and work.
Seems whenever one retires everyone thinks we do nothing important enough and ask us to go more places than we have time even if we were employed. Crazy Crazy!!
Just let it flow in good time.
Take care,
Bill

Thanks for stopping by, Bill....

I get that comment a lot from "retired" friends. One friend decided to go back to work (part-time) so he would have an excuse for not wanting to go party or go somewhere weird or act like a tour guide for visitors or be the guy they ask to volunteer or....well, I think you know what I mean. Hee!
