Slog, slog, slog.

I'm beginning to really appreciate the time I've put in to try to develop new and improved systems for getting my posts up and running and for getting the rest of my life better organized so I have ROOM (and time) to sit and write the durned posts for my website.

I still haven't quite made it to my goal of a consistent, quality weekly post, but it's looking like that's going to be feasible soonish....despite other promises made that need to be kept.

Speaking of "promises"....

I traded in my perpetually-growing, totally naggy and all-over-the-place "to-do" list for a shorter, less detailed "promise" list. Every day I list down the projects I've either taken on or had thrust upon me. Under each one I list the one or two what-comes-next active steps I need to take (or start) to move the things along towards a solution or a resolve.

(Short things that come up and take less than five minutes to resolve get done immediately and I note them on the list after I do them so at least I'll have something to grin about at the end of the day.)

I keep all of these stupid lists in their own journal so that the status and progress notes I make in the margins and around the edges of the thing are there for me to look over and new forward or fix-it steps are added to the evolving promise list when it's time to get on with them. I'm seeing the flow running through my days much easier with this whole thing.

I've got a separate list for the ordinary everyday stuff (called "Dailynesses" that also get tacked on at the end of the "promise" list because that's what they are) that help me keep my everyday life ticking along.

I've been doing this thing every morning for several months now.

As a result, my gnarly list is getting less tangled up. I still get stuff done. (Maybe I even get more things done than I used to.). And more of it gets done in the right order for greater effectiveness.

The cool thing, though, is that as I check things off and close down projects, I'm no longer quite as stressed about trying to be a superhero and I am also more aware of the imperative to NOT keep taking on more and more projects just because I've got some breathing room.

"No" comes easier when you know the promises you have to keep already. "No" comes really easy when you know you're making room for a dream.

This is all in aid of clearing space and having more time to do this blog thing. (You can't do your kata if your training space is cluttered with a pile of fooferall and junks.)

Hope you're making your own kind of progress.

I continue....

The easier it is for you to say " No," the more time you have at your disposal to pursue your goals and get things done.
Time is such a precious and finite resource that we should be prepared to part with our money instead of our time.
That's how important our time is.

I agree, Dada! Thanks for the comment.

It sounds like you have something that works for you, Netta! Sometimes, I am all over the place with my "organization"!

Well done!

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff....

You're welcome, Netta!

Jeff

Don't waste your time writing lists, just get on with the important stuff lol

Problem is the "important stuff" is what's on the list and I already got fried trying to remember everything without writing it down. That does NOT work for me, Geoffrey. Wish it did.

Thanks for the comment, guy. I appreciate it.

Love your way of thinking here Netta!

No lists are ever stupid, organisation is key when dealing what you have laid out for yourself!

No need to try to be a "super hero" here either, work at your own pace my friend, ultimately the only competition you face is yourself!

Keep slog, slog, slogging along and all will be well my friend!!

Thanks, Jessie! I appreciate your encouragement.

Always welcome my friend

Hey good to see you Netta. I faced a similar problem in trying to keep track of it all. I used to use lists and occasionally do. I wrote a piece on this same issue You might find the read useful.

All the best
Hugh

Thanks, Hugh....
