It works!

So, for the past month I've been writing shorter posts of about 1,500 words or so. As a result, I've been able to do one post a week despite the complexities of the day-job.

The shorter posts have been satisfactory. They make sense; they have substance.

The cool thing I am noticing is that the paradoxes that used to make me go into conniptions when I tried to incorporate varied ways of looking at a topic into one post (and which inevitably took a lot of time writing and rewriting the things to make sense out of it all) have turned into springboards for several shorter articles that are all interrelated and can go more in-depth about just one (or even half) a facet of a topic.

I also am able to include more and varied sorts of interesting material within each post that I might not have included in the long ones that were overviews and explanations of more general arguments and counterarguments and stuff like that.

These posts also have been spawning other posts that feature new takes on some facet that I might not have considered including in the long things -- either because they were side-issues or were just too out-there or were besides the point of what I happened to be exploring. They now sit in the wings waiting for their chance to get onstage.

Hmmm....

I am not sorry I did the long posts, which sometimes went to 3,000-plus words. I think they were a necessary part of my training myself to think deeply about concepts that are foundational to the content I am presenting.

It also helped me clarify a lot of my own thinking...always a good thing.

Maybe, too, writing the long things added a touch of "authority" to my brand. (Wow! She sure can go on and on about this stuff. Maybe she knows something. Wo!)

Whatever. I continue.

Hope all's well with you guys.

Hie Netta. You are really grinding the way I like. I also discovered that shorter post that have good relevant content are easy to read.
May be I am lazy to read but don't think I like to read long and winding articles like I am reading a novel. Especially when using a mobile device.
Short and precise articles with between 1-1,5k words a plus for me. Thank you a lot.

Thanks, Ray. I did figure out that, unlike me, many people are not so fascinated by all the ins and outs of different ways of thinking and are not so in love with words.

And, since communication (like dancing) is supposed to be a two-way thing, I figure maybe it's better to be-bop and swing rather than persist in trying to waltz through a world that's jazzing.

Hee!

Awesome Nettta, always working at your own pace while enjoying the journey is my motto- especially so for those of us who have day jobs. And as always, as long as you keep at this - which you have for many a year and keep improving, the testimonies here bear witness- it definitely works- we just have to not quit.

lets stay the course because it works - To Success 😎

Thanks, Christorv!

Netta, It sure works if you make it work! You have made it work by your diligence and consistency in writing those long posts and becoming a better writer in the process.

Thanks, Dada!
