A Valuable Lesson!
The What
I just learned a very valuable lesson. Something I missed when starting out on Wealthy Affiliates a week ago.
The Who
Two wonderful people here at WA who read my first blog pointed out to me that if I posted it on my website as well, Google would consider that as duplicate content since it appears in two places. The result would be that I'd get no credit by Google for the work I did trying to get them to rank my site.
Now I get it! Somewhere along the way I missed that and I am eternally greatful for the words of advice from the two incredible helpful members of my network for pointing that out. I hope some day I can return the favor.
The Why
Clearly, Google wants original content (this is something that's mentioned over and over again in the training) and although my work was original, the fact that they showed up in two places-here on WA as a post and as a blog on my website, Google just plain considers it duplicate content-period. Now to some of you this will seems like a very fundamental rule but being new to this, it's apparent there is a lot to learn and trying to hurry through the training, and being overly anxious to get some traction, can lead to negative results if you don't learn the basics first. Better to take your time and perfect your newfound craft. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day..so I'm told!
The When
From here on out I'll not make that mistake again! My plan is to continue to write original content and make sure that my posts here at WA and my website blogs do not duplicate oneanother.
To All Newbies
I do hope that all newbie's who read this "lesson learned" find it helpful. Better to make this mistakes early on rather then later and wonder why Google isn't ranking my site dispite all the work I've put into it!
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate you pointing that out to me. Nice networking with you.
Question...if I use the stock photo above does Google consider it duplicate content if someone else is using it as well? Thank you SnazzyIT.
No worries, Tim you are learning and eager to do things right, which is a great strength :) Soon you will be training everyone else.

Thank you Tim for that great pointer. I will have to check mine now or maybe have someone check it out for me.
Yes, it’s worth making sure.
