Getting The Word Out

Earlier today I went to my online posts and found that my spelling use of the English language needed a once over! I had corrections to make on all four! Several of them were much to verbose as well.

I had a friend once who used to say in 50 words what everyone else could say in 25! In other words, he was a real talker. It usually took him way to long to get to the point. That isn’t a good trait to have when writing for you intended audience, Delivering your message clearly and concisely is a much better habit to develop then focusing on word count, I think you’ll agree.

A good example of getting the message out without to much gibberish are the network evening news shows. They’ve only got 30 minutes to bring us the important stories of the day and they do a pretty good job of getting a bunch of stories covered in that time frame, In fact it’s even less time if you consider the commercials sprinkled here and there.

We know word count can be important in some cases but it should represent a person’s commitment to communicating valuable, quality information. Once the story has been told...enough said!

Great post you just got the word out and you are absolutely right but I believe that word count does count so you know how many words are in your articles so you know how much you have.

But that is just my opinion of course. Yes, you can say it in little time as you want but sometimes people can't get to the point that quick.

They like to build you up and then give you the point. But then some people can get to the point but then you don't have all the information you need to make a sound decision.

Very true. Thank you.

You are so very welcome it was my pleasure.

Mary

Tim,
So true, even further everyone recognises captions:
Just do it - Nike
The big Apple - New York
And many more...
Great post
Thanks
Peter

I agree Tim, as long as we don't fall into writing what Googlecalls thin content. Good post!

Your right.

This is very wise advice.
I personally will just stop reading, skip over content, or even leave the website, if it doesn't get to the point

That's a good point.I also falls in that category and working hard to do my best!!

Hi Tim, as much as I hate to say it. I may be like your friend in person. I'm not so wordy online though. A good thing in my case...but not for those I work with and/or my wife...LOL!

You do make a good point. Say more with less.

I wish you the best!

Bob

I too have been told I’m a yakked. Oh well, at least we’re aware of it and it’s probably the only imperfection we have anyway!!

...well, at least I can only hope...lol.

Nicely said. Keep up the great posts!
