About TimMcKinlay

Hi, I'm Tim, a 30 something guy from Australia who went from working in construction to earning 6 figures per year with affiliate marketing.

I'm not a guru though.

I am just someone who believes you can achieve anything you set your mind to, as long as you believe in yourself and commit 100%. And this isn't just motivational speak, this is what I live by.

This is how I:

- Quit my old construction gig
- Became a "super affiliate"
- Met Kyle, Carson, Jay (and other cool people here) in person
- Work when I want, where I want, how I want- doing something I love

My "secret" to success:

- Follow the training, use the tools, ask for help when you need it
- Believe in yourself
- Never. Ever. Quit.

You can do this. The ONLY person standing between you and your goals, is you. And when you know this, I mean really know this, you will know that you have the power to choose how your story plays out.

Feel free to drop me a comment below, I'd love to hear from you! :)

Hello Tim, I had a question I do take care of babies with medical issues, so I want to get into the baby industry I was think about stroller's (jogging, 3 in 1, car seat you can put into the stroller, and twin strollers etc... then I do see in my training he's talking about the baby industry, that's good, my question is can you put more than one affiliate on your website? Thanks for your reply:)

Hi Cynthia,

So the first thing you need to do is start thinking about the specific group of people you are trying to help with your site.

From what you've said, your niche could be "babies with medical conditions" (or to narrow it down, babies with a specific type of condition). Or it could be more product focussed, like a site about strollers or car seats, or specific types of baby products that relate to babies with medical conditions.

Any of these can work. But the point I am making is to focus on which group of people you are trying to help. Because this will give you direction about what types of content to fill your site with. The content you create is the most important part, because this is what leads to traffic.

When you have traffic, you can promote anything relevant. So to answer your question, you can promote multiple affiliate products on your site. As long as these products give your audience value and make you a profit, you're good to go.

And in this niche there are TONS of great products you can promote.

Hopefully this helps. All of this is covered in detail as you progress through the training anyways, so just keep moving forward and you will be well on your way to a successful site in this niche!

Let me know if you have any other questions and have a great day ahead :)

Thanks Tim, the babies I usual care for are typically normal they don't need nursing care for long so they need regular strollers, so I am familiar with the jogger strollers I was going to go with this.
Thanks for getting back, so quickly. and you too have a great day ahead.

Hi Tim- truly agree with your point of focusing on finding solutions for others. People turn to the web for info or entertainment...that's it.

Since joining WA last month I have focused on the fantastic training to get things rolling and on sharing in the community. It's been a blast so far! See you around...

Cheers! Tim

Yeah that's what it's all about. Switching your focus to the value you can give to others in your niche is a game changer, it directly leads to more traffic and ultimately, more sales. It really is a win win scenario.

Thanks for dropping by Tim, and all the best with your endeavours here at WA!

I see the trainers in affiliate world make most of their money though commission from domain and pug-in vendors who sell monthly subscriptions. They may also make some money though recommending consumer products, but consumer products do not generate repeat income every month.

You are the expert- so what do you suggest for my goal setting?

Hi Zul,

It really comes down to your niche and what the people within your niche are buying. Not to mention your overall strategy.

With that being said, subscription products/ services are awesome. Because instead of selling something once, and that's it, you get recurring commissions for the life of that customer. So I'm a big fan of this type of affiliate offer.

And there's lots of these offers out there within many niches. It's just a matter of doing your research within your given niche to find them. Either using Google or within an affiliate program you join.

My advice above all is to focus on building your audience. You NEED an audience (traffic), because this is the foundation of your business.

From there, you can think more seriously about what you want to promote. Personally, I like to start by thinking about what my audience will find the most useful. Try to put yourself in their shoes. Maybe it's one product they want, maybe it's a dozen. Maybe some are low ticket, and some are high ticket etc.

From there, try to think about what can create a 'win win' situation for both you and your audience. As in what offers out of those will give your audience what they want, but also make you a steady profit.

If you do things in this order, you will have a very profitable and sustainable business on your hands.

Hope this helps and reach out if you have any other questions going forward!

Hi Tim,

Wondering if you can help out with this problem...

I am trying to login within the site manager so I can delete the content in my chosen theme as per the lesson instruction.

I use google chrome Windows 10 and keep getting this message every time I press Login now.
net::err_cert_common_name_invalid

I have no clue why I am getting this message.

I have not asked the community at large as I might receive conflicting answers which would just confuse me even more.

I am located in the UK.

Thanks.
Steven.

Hi Tim,

Good News!

My son toggled the SSL option from off to on in the WA site settings. This refreshed the certificate as it was expired.

I wish I was as smart as my son.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Best Wishes,
Steven

Hi Steven,

Awesome!

You shouldn't have to do that with the SSL though, and I haven't heard of others having to do this. So I am thinking this was an isolated system error of some kind. If this happens again please contact support right away, so they can figure out the root cause and also stop it happening to others.

Anyways glad you and your son got it sorted and thank you for letting me know :)

Cheers

My website is not showing up. All I did was change the domain and everything was fine but now it is saying that no WordPress website is installed I don't understand what is going on. I can't even contact site support because everytime I try to press the send button it just says "sending..." and never sends.

Hi Renee,

If you bought a new domain, there will be nothing on that domain until you either build a new site or transfer your existing site to that domain.

Sounds like you are wanting to transfer your existing site to your new domain, in which case you will want to follow these steps:

1) Click on 'websites' which is located in the left hand side menu

2) Click on 'SiteManager'

3) Locate your existing site from the list (this will be the OLD domain/ site)

4) Click on 'Move'

5) You will see the option to move your site "To An Existing Domain", click on this and select the new domain you purchased here at Wealthy Affiliate.

6) Click on "I'm Ready, Move My Site".

That's all you need to do. This will move your existing site to your new domain and all should be well.

Let me know how you go and if you have any other questions!
