Wisdom of Yoda and WA

We are all embarking on a new year - and usually with a new year come new goals. Likely, many of us here will incorporate WA in these goals.

I thought it might be instructive to employ the "wisdom of Yoda" from Star Wars to help us in the development of some of these goals.

"If no mistake have you made, yet losing you are ... a different game you should play."

Affiliate marketing is a great way for the average person to help others while helping themselves. The object is to find products that will solve problems for somebody else.

Marketing always changes;and we have to be adaptable enough to follow that change.

Maybe that change is a new niche, a new Website, or maybe just more advertising, a different approach.

"Control, Control, you must learn control!"

We need to have self-control when having any business; you need to work at it. That involves setting time aside every day to do something that will push the business ahead.

I have found the most common reason for losing control is insufficient planning, and giving up just before success will likely appear.

It takes time and effort to build a business - sometimes months to years.

Goals and planning involve trying to have better control over the outcome of your business.

"Mind what you have learned. Save you it can."

We all learn a lot here at WA; many of us have floundered before in some business venture maybe with affiliate marketing or other forms of business.

I find it helps to write down things in a journal - or else they will pass into the ether never to be heard from again.

What we learn here can "save" our business.

"Always pass on what you have learned."

This happens a lot here - we all try to help others and pass on what we have learned about marketing our business.

People come here with zero knowledge of the Internet and WordPress so it can be a steep learning curve to have a successful website.

"Patience you must have"

This is not a get-rich-quick scheme where you can make money in a few days by just pushing a button.

Nowhere do we promote quick riches. It takes time and effort to have any successful long-term business venture.

"So certain were you. Go back and closer you must look."

Many people get started on a certain niche here - and then find their niche just will not work for them for various reasons.

We have to go back and start over - but not at the beginning. We learn from our mistakes, learn how to use WordPress better, and become better at what we do.

We just look closer and find the problems.

And of course, the all-time favorite,

"No! Try not! Do or do not, there is no try."

I often tell people this when they say, "I'll try to stop smoking."

You know right then they are not sincere and will likely not be able to stop.

You can not allow the thought of failure to enter - failure is not an option!
