If this title is how you are feeling that happens sometimes in this sort of business.

Today I am going to dive in and cover these a little bit so that people can consider some things with their business and life.

Discouraged/Burned Out:

What is discouraging you with your business? Have you gone through all the training, is your website finished, have you done the niche/keyword research necessary to give your business a fair chance at success, are you working too much? There are many things that can be discouraging in this sort of business.

To solve many of these types of questions remember this, working online and being your own boss is a marathon not a sprint... Basically don't over work yourself, set realistic goals for what you want to accomplish that day. For example if you are new maybe your goal is to complete a certain amount of the training, maybe it's to finish setting up the initial pages (privacy, about, contact, etc..) for your website, maybe your goal is to research niches that interest you and then determine which one has less competition and has products that you can earn income with by using affiliate programs. Whatever the case may be setting realistic daily goals is a way to advance in the big picture of things. When you just jump in each day and try to take on too much every day or put in too much time each and everyday then this causes some people to get burned out, discouraged, and frustrated.

Take time to relax! People working 5-7 days a week 8-12 hours a day on their website often get burned out and discouraged... In some cases they get impatient or decide to quit without giving it a fair chance at being successful...

Not Having Success/Not Earning Money:

Have you gone through all the training, is your website up and running, have you done the proper keyword research, have you select a proper "niche", have you added unique original content to your website, what are the affiliate commission % for your products you are promoting, are you optimizing your content with your keywords, and the list can go on.....

These are questions/topics you should ask yourself if you are struggling to achieve any success or earn money.

Let me dive in to one of the main reasons why I see people not have success or earn money... Niche selection!

Niche Selection!!!! :

I see many people each and every week here and throughout various groups I am involved in who say they aren't having success or aren't earning money. Then I ask if I can look at their website or if they could tell me their niche and I can possibly help them.

This brief story I am about to tell you is not a joke, and really happened!

They send me the link to their wordpress website/blog... I browse the site for only a few minutes, it's a neatly organized, clean and nice website! However I can see clear signs of what has gone wrong already but just to be sure I send them a message and say hey I am checking out your website, what is the niche for your website?

They replied back to me it's a fitness website!

I KNEW IT!!!!

What did they do wrong here? Fitness is a niche however more than that when you choose a broad niche like that you are taking on an entire industry... It's a terrible idea to do that, unless you have loads of disposable income and can advertise often and pump money into the project, or unless you want it to possibly take years to earn any money.

So you may be thinking what can they do differently?

This is what I told them:

You should be building a niche website that is more specific. If fitness is your niche then you want to find a specific area or sub-niche within fitness that interest you and research it thoroughly to find keywords you potentially could rank for. For example Fitness is the broad niche/industry but a specific niche or sub-niche of fitness would be supplements to build more muscle or supplements to burn fat. (This is just an example of smaller niches within the large industry/broad niche of fitness). Simply put your new website most likely won't be able to compete against authority websites with lots of money that have been around many years in a broad niche. DON'T GO TO BROAD, THAT IS ONE OF THE TOP MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE!

The more you simplify and breakdown a niche into sub-niches the more specific your audience is... (Be sure to make sure the audience or niche you are using has products you can actually earn decent commissions from.)

EXAMPLE:

Say I want to do go with the house cleaning niche... That is way too broad! So let's go into a sub-niche, Vaccuums... Well that's still possible to be broken down, some example could be upright vaccums, professional vacuums, robot vacuums. These types of products can make you money because of decent price to earn a fair commission amount but also help pinpoint a specific audience.

Anyways those are a few useful tips and things to consider with your online business. Hopefully you find this informative and helpful so that you can avoid some of these issues in your online business journey.

Great info! I see so many push themselves so far only to get burnt out. You are 100% right, building an online business is a marathon, not a sprint. We all have to remember to still take time for self-care, to recharge our batteries. Pushing yourself when you're not feeling up to the task actually ends up doing more harm than good. Even if you complete just one task a day, you are making progress, no matter how small, and that is the true key to success.

Thanks for sharing Jack, all that makes absolute sense. I need to maximise my returns from limited time availability, Best Alan

Take a break. Relight your fires. Come back and hit it twice as hard!

Great Information

I did come to a point - well, many points actually - when I was still completing the training within WA where I kept feeling down; I kept writing posts and improving my website, following each step in the training and still, there were no positive results. I truly felt like giving up.

I am definitely with you when you say that you have to be careful not to burn yourself out and to make sure that the niche you have chosen is not too broad. It sure is a marathon and not a sprint (imagine sprinting throughout a 5K run). We need to change our mindset.

So, I wrote less during a week, maybe 2 -3 times compared to everyday and I felt like I was writing better, and I was more fresh with ideas. Furthermore, I was enjoying what I was writing and I was not focused on the results, but more on finding what people would possibly be looking for in my post and figuring out ways to implement the training as much as possible (such as keyword research, inter-linking posts etc...) and I started seeing results.

We all WANT to make money fast, but what we have to do foremostly, is thinking of a niche where we will enjoy helping others. We may not know everything about our interest but are we curious enough to go the extra mile to research the topic of a post we want to write about?

What I have come to realize is that if you want to change your life, then giving up is NOT an option.

I Will add One emotionally stress...(depressed)
