Your Story is Important

We live in a world where results, rewards, and riches are given a greater spot light than the effort that has brought them about.

With before and after pictures, or then and now stories, we often skip over the struggle that comes in the middle of every story. Especially success stories.

Your story, in its entirety is important. It all matters. The pain, the hurt, the struggle, the defeat. Whether you have faced it in the past, or whether you face it today, it matters.

As much as we don’t enjoy focusing on these most trying times, moments, and feelings we have they are important. Without them our personal story would lack the conflict that leads to the happily ever after we have always wanted to create.

Something that can be hard to always remember, is that without opposition, potential can never be realized.

The challenges we face are what provide us the opportunities we need in order to succeed.

We also need to remember that without the struggle, and the hard times we could never understand success and the good times. You can’t have one without the other. You have to experience both to understand the difference.

Have you ever felt that something sounded too good to be true?

Do you hate it when things seem too easy?

You and I can’t stand when people skip over the negatives when they give us an offer, show us something, or tell us a story. Why? Because we feel we are being deceived, and rightly so. We know that everyone faces challenges and struggles, we know things aren’t easy…so when people don’t admit their challenges and struggles to us we find it very difficult to trust them.

You and I have to be comfortable enough in our own skin to be real with ourselves and with the world.

We have to admit our struggles, rather than cover them up and hide them. You can’t ignore the hike and the climb that lead to your current view.

We know it’s important to tell our story to the world. We cant connect with people without telling our story.

So let us remember to tell more of the story than we might like. You don’t need to share every detail of the struggles you have faced, or are currently facing, but be willing to be open about the very real challenges that you have been confronted with.

You and I need to do this both to be real with ourselves and real with others. In turn we will be able to develop a real connection with our audience.

This connection comes because we show we are vulnerable, and…when it comes down to it it shows the world that we are just like everyone else.

Doing this helps others trust us.

Without this trust we can’t truly help them.

It is a lot easier to learn from someone you can relate to.

When we present ourselves as super human, no one will believe us. When we present ourselves as human everyone will believe us.

What we say matters.

How we tell our story matters.

How we present ourselves to the world matters.

Lets you and I remember this as we work toward becoming who we want to be, living the life we want to live, and running the business that we want to run. And let us do what we do to leave a legacy, and make a difference.

Evan

Generally I have found that if it sounds too good to be true then to proceed with extreme caution :)

I feel the same way. It only makes sense to be extra careful, cause you feel as though something is lurking around the corner and is about to jump out at ya.
