The 2 Kinds of Advertising Which will you use?

The most commonly used form of advertising is disruption marketing.

Disruption marketing is the most ruthless and annoying form of advertising know to man. It is all about interrupting people in an effort to plant thoughts, impressions, and feelings in our minds and hearts so we will be persuaded to the advertisers cause.

TV commercials, Billboards, Radio ads, etc are all forms of disruptive advertising. There is a reason that for the most part we hate them, it's because we didn't want them. Having no per-existing interest, and the promotion being forced upon us.

Advertising and marketing has gotten a bad rap from this most brutal and vicious form of advertising, the kind that doesn't care about us...its more about brainwashing than it is about sharing and promoting.

The main reason it is so bad is because it is based upon using force rather than free choice.

The least common, yet slowly developing method of advertising is known as permission marketing.

Permission marketing is all about asking the desired audience for permission to promote to them. Instead of forcing a million ads your way they look for ways to ask you if you are actually interested in them and what they have to offer you.

Those who utilize this up and coming method know and realize that the old way of jumping in front of you, yelling in your hear and annoying the heck out of you just isn't cutting it these days.

The companies working to use the permission marketing and advertising methods look for ways to gain your approval before they promote things to you. They realize the importance of relationships, and although they might not be perfect they are working toward ensuring that your experience with their company is nothing less than what you would feel comfortable with.

It is up to us to choose which path we will take.

Will be become another annoying nagging voice or ad, or will we chose to kindly ask to share our message. Advertising is a big deal. It helps us sell everything under the sun. Doing advertising the right way ensures that everyone is happy at the end of the day.

I personally am all about permission marketing, sure it takes more work and effort, and I'm still learning, but my audience deserves the best possible experience when dealing with my business.

What's your take?

What do you think?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey even, I like to earn the right to present something to someone. Although I don't always take that much time. The flash in your face stuff is an annoyance and messes with the quality of life.

Marty

Hey Marty! Totally appreciate your honesty.
No doubt it can be challenging to ask permission, rather than jump in front of there face approach.

Taking the time to learn about the proper strategies, and then implement them can be mentally trying, but I'm sure it would help everyone sleep better at night.

Thanks for your comment, hope things are coming along for you.

Evan, I don't mean to ask permission literally but to earn it by trust and relationship.

Marty

Yeah totally.

This becomes a key part of ones branding. By building relationships rather than just lists, and by building a bond of trust we will always find more success. (I hope my post wasn't confusing? maybe I could have been more clear. Next time I'll take more than 15min to write a post.)

This can take more work, but it will always be worth it.

What is your business? Obviously getting permission or knowing what the customer wants beforehand is by far much more conversion centric. However I plan to use both for the foreseeable future.

I appreciate your honesty. My business although still under development, will involve helping people develop their online business via their membership in the Grizzly Den. Which we be unlike any membership site ever created. I will also have several businesses where I will be selling ebooks and various training videos.

(Proper permission marketing starts when your brand connects with your audience.)

Thanks for your comment.

Totally agree Evan. I have such a distaste of those typical long sales letters and I'm not a big fan of animated sales video's any more either. Sometimes they're great products, but I know personally I prefer a human approach that adds value.
Deception is the worst kind of marketing, where an expectation is created, and links to something completely unwanted. It wastes people's time and insults their intelligence.

The internet has empowered people and put them in the drivers seat, so they want to go where they wish..not where we push them to go.

Glad you enjoyed the post. You and I know that in order to out smart the competition we have to be better communicators.

Although sales letters and videos can be very annoying I don't entirely bash then simply because they have yielded solid results for those who have implemented them. That being said I want to make sure that any sales letter or video I ever use is more simplistic and to the point as possible.

I totally agree deception is not cool. I have a different view on persuasion though.

I too, feel that people need to feel they have a choice and are doing what they want to do when they interact with your business.

Thanks for the superb comment!
