Self Critisism

You are your own worst critic.

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed and frustrated because we are heavily evaluating everything we do. I know I am guilty of struggling with this. You are working on something, and although you've had some progress, it just doesn't seem like it's enough.

Yesterday I started working on another book. I love writing, and although it can definitely be challenging, I find the journey that is writing enjoyable. What I found myself struggling with yesterday was my personal expectations for accomplishment. I had realized that I should be writing 1000-1500 words a day, and yesterday I only wrote 910.

I was really frustrated, and kinda mad at myself. I had to stop, and re-evaluate. I had started the new book rather late in the day. To expect an easy free flowing thought to spew a perfect assortment of words that convey perfectly the ideas I would like to share and lessons I would like to pass on would be pure ludicrous.

Have you ever been frustrated,...then realize it was all your fault?

You and I are driven critical thinkers that have to be careful we don't shot ourselves in the emotional foot for no good reason. To push ourselves is good and expected, but to punch ourselves, now that's just not healthy.

If you are going to be self critical always remember to truly allow yourself to see all the factors involved, not just the goal. If you don't you run the risk of jeopardizing your motivation and optimism.

If things seem like they are taking longer than expected, before you sulk over in despair be sure that you look back and see how far you have come. See your vision, see the goal, and feel the victory that will yet be your accomplishments.

You and I have doubters, it's to be expected. It comes with being different, the drive to forge our own path through the forest rather than simply accepting what we are told. We don't appreciate the doubters, but we need them because they serve to encourage us to stick with it, and truly prove ourselves.

We need to be careful though that we don't allow our doubts to transform us from excited believers, to paralyzed worrisome haters. Face your doubts and frustrations, don't let them consume you.

See the whole picture. The progress, the room for improvement, and the opportunity.

To all those who feel frustrated because they feel they are coming up short, remember to take things one paw at a time. Yes,...there is plenty to be said about hustle, but if that hustle hurts your ability to see things positively then you might just want to simmer down. In an effort to achieve the success we seek we feel as though we have to hustle, and in reality this view comes from feeling that we have to do exactly what we have seen or been told others are doing. As much as examples can be helpful, you best believe they aren't you, and you probably value, and want different things.

So don't allow your presumption of what others are doing will work for you, cause you to get burnt out.

You can do this. Keep at it. Don' t give up. Be careful how you treat and view yourself.

I struggle with this judgement of myself too, I am my own worst enemy at times, LOL!! getting better tho as I get older :)

We are all here for you. Thanks for sharing. I figure it's our enormous drive to improve and achieve that leads to self-criticism. It's not the end of the world, so long as we let it push us forward rather thank punch us down. I'm sure you're doing better thank you think. ;)
All the best.
