Narrow Your Hunt

In life and in business we tend to worry about how best to appeal to the masses before we worry about our legacy. You and I want to earn a substantial living while roaming through the forest of internet marketing, but we need to remember that we don't need to dominate the whole forest to realize our dreams. We simply need a flourishing territory.

You need to both realize, and accept that not everyone will value you, or your business and all that you offer. This in no way discounts you potential, and that of your business. Rather it reveals what is truly important, you and your business have a distinct uniqueness that both repeals and invites. To make this idea simpler...if you are a grizzly with a territory in the forests of the rocky mountains, you should never expect to catch an octopus. So don't beat yourself up for not finding or catching what you are not targeting with your branding and marketing. If you are not positioned in the right territory or using the right bait / strategy you won't catch what you are expecting to catch.

Don't worry about being a people-pleaser. Rather focus on targeting and hunting your ideal prey. Your brand and marketing will should help you to attract and capture only the very prey you set out to catch. (It can be hard to trust a people-pleaser.)

This can be tricky when you want to do so much. You have so many ideas, and have so much you would like to share with your audience. Just remember that you prefer to have things presented to you simply, and directly. You don't like dealing with things that are overly complicated, or are vague in any way. You enjoy a certain degree of certainty when introduced to something new...So it will be with someone who comes in contact with you website / branding and marketing.

So if not everyone agrees with what you are doing, the business you are starting, or how you are running your business it shouldn't stop you from chasing your dreams. (Terms and conditions may apply to the aforementioned statement.)

Remember this ...

Luke wasn't everyone's friend, but what mattered was that he had the right friends. Ben Kenobi saved him from this angry disagreeable dude. Would you like to be protected, defended, and promoted, and empowered in the same way Ben Kenobi protected, defended, and promoted, and empowered the young Luke Skywalker? All you have to do is find your Kenobi's connect with them and do for them what you would have them do for you...Provide them with honest value and tailor your business to them...

So narrow your hunt, and make the most of it.
You could earn $1,000,000 a year from 1Mill people paying you $1, or 10 people paying you 100K, or from 100 people paying you 10K, or by having 4k people pay you $250.

It all comes down to how large your territory is, and how well you can hunt.

Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
I look forward to your comments, and look forward to hearing your thoughts.
Best wishes,
Evan

Great points and perspective!

Evan,

Would you mind giving me your opinion on my home page. Most of the site is done in draft form. Thanks in advance.

Evan,

You nailed it! With two to three billion people online every day, we only need a smidgen of the market to be successful. Staying focused and drilling deep on a few niches is so much more fulfilling. Thanks for your post!

Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for your solid comment! I'm glad you enjoyed my post. I feel this is something we must always remember. Especially as it is so very easy to feel overwhelmed buy the idea of all that we must supposedly do to earn the life we have always dreamed of. Glad you get the vision.

Evan

Yes sir I do. It is said where this is no vision, folks perish. And when there is no action on the vision, folks perish. Gotta to take the action.

I'll be checking out more of your posts.

Jeff

I really like this post. It is very inspiring for me. I tend to try to be a people pleaser. That at times is my downfall :)

Glad you enjoyed it. People pleasers can be great peace keepers, so don't be too hard on yourself. One must simply seek to remember that you don't need to please everyone to live life the best way possible, and find the success you seek. Thanks for being a loyal commenter!
