Weird Little Hack that Works for me

I have been researching sound and how it affects concentration, ( yes I know there is no accounting for taste!) It seems that if you listen to a repeated beat it keeps your brain on the same frequency. The science behind this is simple. If you listen to the same repeated notes it keeps your brain focused because the rise and fall of the tones quite literally block out interruptions. It is the equivalent of white noise.

I listen to these while I work as I haven't got headphones but I wonder if you had headphones you could keep your brain focusing all day without any interruptions It may be monotonous but it does work

I have added the Youtube video below because I can't work out to add one here in the article , if anyone can tell me how to do it I will be very grateful when I try it shows up in edit but disappears when published

Catherine,
I listened to your Recommendation at the Bottom and I used Mobile Phone ear phones,(not the Best) but I must admit I did get ,what can I say a bit lost, as I was not aware of my Grandson when he wanted to talked to me.
I have listened to Andres choice and yes interseting as you said.
I am now listening to "Super Intelligence - Binaural Beats Focus Music, Study Music for Concentration".
I think you have to give it time so the mind soaks everything in.
I'll give it a Go.

Cheers
Murray

Excellent Catherine, some of the best content can be created when we are in that zone, one of the best ways to get there is listening to our favorite music.

Just on an aside, the guys were tuned into hard rock in the dairy shed, while the cows were being milked, the music was flipped out for more classical styles; production went up, very interesting.

Music is subtle and powerful.

Maybe I'm weird but if I meditate, I can listen to something like this. It's relaxing and it will take me away but if I'm writing or reading, I have to have complete silence. I don't want white noise. Many of my friends used to listen to music doing homework but I never could. I'm not sure why. I never tried to analyze that.

Debbi go down and listen to Andres link down below is very interesting

I did. Mixed feelings about that one though.

Are they Binaural beats? I use headphones after a time you don't notice the sound but it is still effective.
I also sometimes, listen to something I want to learn and with the right binaural beat going, it seems to sink in better all the while keeping me focused on my work.
You do have to remember to play a lower hertz for a bit if you want to sleep.

Wow Linda that is something useful to try thank you

You are most welcome Catherine.
If you put in binaural beats in YouTube loads come up. For working and learning the pure ones are better. Those with other sounds added can be distracting.

yes I abandoned them before for that reason but Andre link below is also great

It is just finding the right thing. Works better with headphones but they need to be comfortable.

I teach high school and apart from students not knowing what "good music" is and laughing at me because I listened to the same thing their parents listen to, it keeps the kids in a good mood for the most part. I guess there is something to that saying "music calms the savage beast" LOL I am kidding before anyone complains that I consider my students "savage beast". I am lucky I have for the most part great kids.

How wonderful
