Shift Your Focus from Security to Opportunity
Financial Security is important
One of the reasons Wealthy Affiliates is such a great training platform is the fact that you can learn at your own pace. At times, this is both a blessing and a curse. A lot of people find that financial security has eluded them in their job. This situation will only get worse over the next few years as the fallout from 2020 expands out.
This makes insecure people deeply unhappy, threatened, worried about their future, yet more determined than ever to find greater security. Luckily for me I grew up with self-employed parents. I never had the security of knowing that money would definitely come in at the end of the month.
Yet when I started my fist business at fifteen, most of my decisions were whether they increased or decreased my security. In my first business, these decisions were mostly about keeping my business afloat.
you can read more about that story here

By the time I started my fist retail business at 20, I was comfortable taking risks. I
also saw that many of my friends had sold their souls for security, they had lost the ability to be creative and vibrant because they were in mundane jobs they hated. Others sought the parental protection in corporate monoliths they hoped would take care of them for all their days.
Both of these groups sold their souls for nothing, they got clobbered by government layoffs, or tied to a treadmill in a corporation. If they scaled the heights of that corporation their families were tied into the corporate life as well.
Yet my friends who had followed their passion and pursued their own dreams within their own business were usually doing quite well, some of them spectacularly well.
General Douglas MacArthur, once said:
"There is no security on this earth; there is only opportunity."
This means if you chase the dream of security you are always go8ing to fail, when we seek the impossible, we are destined to be frustrated and insecure. Absolute security doesn't exist, so why waste your life searching for it?
Certainly, some measure of security, some anchor to windward is necessary. Having a cushion in the bank, for example, or conceiving a well thought out plan for your new business, will enhance your probability of success.
But the search for absolute security is flawed from the outset, and if you don't realize that, your happiness is doomed, and so are your chances of success in this world.
Within this platform, you can learn at your pace, but to win you need to

What a excellent written blog, Catherine?
I always believed in taking opportunity that has calculated risk to ensure my security.
I love that quote
To be successful, you must be willing to do the things today others won’t do in order to have the things tomorrow others won’t have.”
Another quote that will go on my wall
Hope your Sunday is beautiful
There is wisdom in insecurity. Control is an illusion. Simplicity on the far side of complexity.
Thanks for sharing your insightful post.
Absolutely Dan. All control is an illusion. Thank you for reminding me of that its something I am so aware of I forget to state what to me is obvious
Me too. It's such an illusion, I have a sister-in-law she thinks she controls everyrhing
I agree totally with you.
Security was, Opportunity now and the future.
Thank you for a terrific blog post.
