"No amount of great marketing will help a shit product".
Gary Vee

Who is Gary V?

Gary V a.k.a is an Internet millionaire, he is estimated to have a net worth in excess of $150 million. Love him or hate him, he knows a little bit about our world of marketing and advertising.

Paying for eyeballs to your offer isn’t marketing. it is advertising, which is a completely different ballgame. The secret to success is having a relatively small niche with a large community

Be A Big Fish In A Small Pond

" It is far better to be a big fish in a small pond than another fish in an ocean full of sharks"
Russel Brunson

Having a niche business is effective when you start. Either charge a premium for your expertise or have a wonderful product to recommend. This is one of the reasons why Boot Camp here encourages you to create a highly specific target audience.

“I can’t give you a sure-fire formula for success, but I can give you a
formula for failure: try to please everybody all the time.” — Herbert Bayard Swope

Market a Great Product

Over the years, I've seen many marketers try and make a fast buck. They have the ability to exploit a fantastic sales page which camouflages a mediocre product, which is not to up to scratch. That's not clever, that's a betrayal of your customers' trust. In every case, an outstanding product will sell itself.

Create Valuable Content, Often.

When you're creating content you need to think about how it can be repurposed. Efficient content creation relies on

  • Quality
  • Volume
  • Speed

Although quality is important, it is important that it doesn't stop you creating a high volume of content at speed. If you are a perfectionist, you will stress over small inconsequential details which stand in the way of producing a volume of content. I have written many time here the perfectionism leads to "paralysis by analysis".

Content is much more than the written word. If you find it is a problem to write then create podcasts. Graphics, illustrations and cartoons can be shared on social media. If you are good with words then start blogging, If you are good with visuals and pick up your phone and start shooting, It's not even necessary to have a fancy pants camera

Your Content should be informative but it should also be entertaining. Create a style of delivery Which incorporates both elements.

Creating Evergreen Content Is important. Your Content Needs to SERVE your community

What is evergreen content? It is content that Is relevant all year. If you create evergreen content Then people looking at it, every month of the year rather than just Christmas. This maximizes the number of people who will read your blog, listen to your podcast of folly you on social media all the time.

Many years ago I used to look at trends and exploit them, It did make me money but in the short term. These days I'm looking for sustainability and I'm more looking at timelessness than trendy.

Quick maths, $100 x 1000 = $100,000. A six-figure annual income is nothing to sniff at, no matter where you live.

Your Content Needs to SERVE your community

The engagement with your community will increase if you reply to every comment. Make it a point to reply to everyone that reaches out to you. Become part of the community in your Facebook group because Facebook groups rather than pages are an incredible way to build a community quickly and easily. It takes an incredible amount of time each day to serve this community [ask any of the ambassadors here!]. Earn the trust of your community The time and effort will come back Do you in spades.

Since I made the mistake of choosing a niche that is quite popular, am doing two things to make it original. First, I want to offer the highest-quality products I can find. Second, I want to include material that is humorous and extremely readable to induce people to read it. It's a job, and is certainly keeping me busy.

Sounds a wonderful plan Fran

Choosing an audience goes hand in hand with choosing the niche. Its tough to know whether its a good choice.

Fantastic advice Catherine! A great reminder to focus on the target audience and give them what they want.
Many thanks
Adrian
