I Have Thrown in the Towel

I finally did it, I threw out the towel last Friday!

Then I threw out the bathwater
Then I threw out the bath
Fortunately, I kept the baby, it nearly got thrown out of the bathwater but not quite.

All of my hair got pulled out in this process! If So what made me so angry to throw in the towel. I had spent last week struggling to build a new sales funnel. Theoretically, I could have struggled for a whole heap of reasons. The first reason I could have struggled with is that I don't usually build myself funnels I outsource it. However last week my funnel builder was on holiday so I decided to do it. It wasn't a complicated funnel, as you can see below. It was very simple involving only building five pages.

The second reason I could have got frustrated as I'm not particularly technical and the technical aspects like sales pages bore me to tears. Fortunately, my business partner is a geek, and he gets bored to tears with the creative bits I love. So in that respect, we are perfectly matched

A massive cause of the frustration was trying to get Zapier to integrate the sales page on the payment page and the delivery page. No matter how I did it I had to manually add people to a list. I have two Autoresponder's one with active campaign, and one with Aweber. I wasn't being territorial they could have been added to either list I didn't care, but the point was they couldn't be added to either.

About six months ago we were both introduced to a new CRM and I kept saying our business wasn't ready for it yet. Last week I realized this was a nonsense! The problem was my mindset. I found this very hard to accept because I teach mindset in Internet marketing. I suddenly realized I had a block in my head and I thought that only six-figure marketers have their own CRM.

We both looked at this system and realised it offered absolutely everything we could want. It dealt with the page builder, it dealt with the Autoresponder, it dealt with the text messaging, it dealt with the appointments, it had its own calendar. Crucially, it also had its own membership site which is very similar to Thinkific. This is where I host my membership sites at the moment.

So last week I actually sat down and worked out how much the Autoresponders cost, how much Thinkific costs, how much the Vimeo costs. It was a shock to realize I am already paying $100 a month more for the existing systems in loads of places than I would be with an integrated system. I also wouldn't need to pay for Zapier.

The moral of this story is that for six months I have delayed doing something my business really needed. I had a block in my head once I got over it I started to build the sales funnel again in a new system. The first step of course was building the original opt in free page for the software to generate Facebook leads automatically.

What a joy when I got to the form to be filled in. Instead of leaving the system and having to go to my Autoresponder's I just clicked a "create form" button I dragged three custom fields over. Name, email, and phone number. Normally on an opt in form you wouldn't necessarily ask people for their phone number but in this case the developers of the software use this number to phone the customers if they are having a problem within Facebook. I didn't even have to click add form, once it was created it appeared on my page.

So just because you have experience in Internet marketing doesn't mean you're always doing things the right way. There are always other options you can try. So now I look forward two building more sales funnels and using them. I am hoping that in the last three months of the year this simple change will double my income.

Sometimes we all have to look at the story we tell ourselves. Quite often that story is simply not true as in this case the story I was telling myself was that only six-figure and seven figure earners had their own CRM. Clearly not true

I hope you all have a massively productive week. I am hoping to know I can get down to creating more sales funnels

Hi Catherine,

So that’s what I caught falling from the sky, your towel! You got me thinking about experimenting with sales funnels on paper. Your towel will come in handy as it had clues embedded in it!

Glad you’ve got a good techie in your team.

Cheers!

Edwin

Edwin, you don't know how happy having a Geek onside makes me

Ahh, I thought I was the only one getting stuck with funnels...You've proved me wrong!

I've decided to use Thrive Themes after 1 year off when they had security issues. Making funnels with them is easy.

I hope you have a lot of success with your future funnels...

Meanwhile, take care and keep the baby!

So glad i didn't throw out the baby with the bathwater, and good luck with Thrive Themes Stella

Good and thanks!

Lucky for you your collaborator was away and you had to pick up the slack. Without it, things would be going along the same way.

It is always good to step outside of our comfort zone and work on things that we would not normally do. It was a bummer that it took as long for you to figure it out as it did, but now that is done you have streamlined your business, saved money, and learned something.

Alex

All good Alex

Hello Catherine. Besides the useful information about Zapier, I like your funnel diagram. It helps me to narrow my focus. I have the opposite problem to you with my mindset. Mine is to believe too soon this or that or the other thing will help me--and then investing in it--and then not knowing what to do with it when I have it. And you probably know the end of that story.

That was true for me for a long time. One thing that I can tell you is if you are thinking like that you are still thinking like a buyer. Try and flip your head and think like a seller, because that is what you are you are recommending others products, You don't have to fall into every sales page that comes your way

That is brilliant Catherine, well done.

Doesn't matter how much you help others with mindset, it can still be tough to recognise our own blocks. At least it didn't take years to get past it.

I only like technical stuff I can do, lol. The rest I don't like, which is pretty much most of it.

Sooo true Linda. They wouldn't be your blocks if you see them

Very good point.
