When I analyze the potential for a niche I don't think small. Certainly, I look at the basics first.

Does keyword search volume show a strong interest in the niche?

Are there a good number of products to promote?

But then I think far into the future because if you get creative every niche has plenty of untapped potentials.I want to show you how even seemingly small niches can turn into a major operation and a much bigger income. Let's say you start out building a site around "Christmas pajamas".You follow the steps to find all the related keywords, write about them, and promote all the Christmas pajamas you can find on Amazon. By the time you're even 1/3rd of the way through that step you have a better understanding of your niche and target audience so you're able to write more informative posts meant purely to help your target audience like:

• Which fabrics make the softest pajamas
• Cute ideas for family Christmas pajama photos
• How to find Christmas pajamas for hot weather climates
• 5 Ways to customize your Christmas PJs
• Remake your old PJs for the holidays
• How to find matching PJ sets for your family
• Best free pajama patterns online

You start searching for other retailers that sell Christmas pajamas besides Amazon, apply to their affiliate programs, and start promoting more products. You start an email list so that you can let your followers know when new posts are added to your site. You're so considerate of your target audience and aware of what they want to see that you even start promoting related products that don't have an affiliate program by embedding a retailer's photo from their Pinterest or Instagram profile into a post on your website.

You start building your own Instagram and Pinterest profiles for your website and further grow your audience. You're making enough now so that you can actually buy and test products in your niche. You start doing video reviews of the Christmas pajamas that you buy so you can provide even more information to your target audience about how the fabric feels, how well it handles being washed and dried, how they fit - maybe even have your friends or family model them for your videos - and build a YouTube channel.

You start contacting manufacturers and designers in advance of the holiday to see if you can find out what new styles are coming so that you can write about them. You find small designers who specialize in unique Christmas pajamas and start interviewing them for posts on your website and, in exchange, link to the designer's website even if it doesn't benefit you because it WILL help your target audience.

You start working with a designer to create your own line of Christmas pajamas. You have someone make your Christmas PJs designs so you can sell them on your website, Amazon and Etsy. You host a local Christmas PJ fashion show and make it an annual event. You turn your fashion show into a video to add to your YouTube channel. Your brand becomes famous and you sell hundreds of thousands of Christmas pajamas each year.

You branch off into making non-Christmas pajamas...Okay, it's a wild set of ideas but not out of the realm of possibility. And, sure, you have no idea how to do any of those things right now (and may not even want to take some of those steps) but that's okay! When you're ready to go to the next step - whatever that step might be - research how to take that particular step and go from there. Just don't stop dreaming. Turn your dreams into goals and your goals into actions.
