I'm trying to do Phase 2 Lesson 2 - Properly Using Affiliate Links. In the video Kyle shows the Affiliate Links at the "top of every page within the platform" and there is the "Short Affiliate Link" under that one is the "Full Affiliate Link" and under that one is the "Full Affiliate Link: This Page". These are supposed to be the "Affiliate Links" we have access to at the top of every page. I DO NOT HAVE a "Short Link" available within my platform?!? I was wondering if anybody out there has any idea why this could be happening within my platform? Thank you WAmily for taking this question into consideration!

I prefer avoiding the use of short links for the following reason:

When I am browsing the web, I want to get somewhat of a clear idea where an outbound link is taking me. If a link is shortened to the extent that it begins to look suspicious, I will avoid clicking on that link.

Although many browsers now have more and advanced security features, there are still many sites that will plant a virus or malware on one's computer and that bothers me for several reasons.

I don't want the visitors to my website to even think I am planting links to unknown and faraway places.

This video was made prior to the WA platform redesign. Those shortened affiliate link features no longer exist on the WA platform. You can just use the long links or use a shortener program like Bitly.

OK - So, just skip through this lesson and try other programs latter? What about "Pretty Link" do I need that plugin?

I would not skip through the lesson. Just ignore the part about shortened affiliate links and check off Task 1 at the bottom of the lesson. Then complete the remaining 4 tasks of that lesson.

So, Boomer - Every step with this lesson seems to be a no-go! Now I'm trying to put my meta tags and stuff in my pic links and they won't "insert" before that I was just copy and paste them in place. So, now after watching videos on it I'm trying to put the keyword in the pics but they won't insert. Do you think I need all them meta tags and stuff - if so why won't they insert in my post?

Phase 2 Lesson 2 has nothing to do with meta tags. What lesson are you referring to?

Besides, meta tags are only for SEO purposes and appear within the meta tag area of the SEO plugin that appears under your content editor window.

I am not sure what you mean by meta tags in your pic links

Hey Robert! No worries - I was just trying do do some of the stuff from Jay's Case Study on Framework video or maybe it was from Case Study on keywords video of recent videos - you see I made a bunch of notes and didn't signify which videos they came from. It's nothing to get hung about. I did visit your website and I think it's very nice! I left a comment on there, so I thought I'd let you know that. I'm going to get into some of Jay's videos now and we can save our communications for later! I think your a good mentor and it will be my mission to help you some day! You never know - right!
