I have been receiving notices of- attempt to signin failed- on the email address that I use only for WA.
Can the source of these attempts be traced?.

Is it Microsoft or Gmail, or which email client is it? Is it via a mobile phone or computer browser?

Thanks for responding so promptly. It is a gmail account and the notices are via my mobile phone which is attached to the account.

There are various reasons for this. For example, if you change the password via your computer, you also have to change it on your mobile app.

Perhaps this discussion in the Gmail forum will offer help - in particular refreshing the gmail app to clear the data and re-enter the password on your phone.
