Since a couple of days I'm experiencing problems while writing comments on WA blogs.

The line break is jumping two lines instead of one when pressing the enter button?

Have you also experienced this issue?

Grateful for any tips and hints.

Pernilla

Pernilla, I'm going through old emails I didn't answer to. Your are no exception. On your previous posts you mentioned a problem. Maybe it's still the same problem you had there.

Could it be your cleaning out your browser?

Just wondering!

Exactly this was also a browser issue. Edge made the trouble - after the latest Windows update.

Have changed browser now.
Trish recommended Firefox.

Very good! Ain't it nice when you know what the problem was.

Have not experienced that problem . Could it be that your mouse or touch pad sensitivity was changed without realizing it?

Thank you Suzanne for your advice.

I've found out that my problem was a browser issue. In Chrome everything works just well. No problem with the line break, no strange double jumps.

Must stop using the Edge Browser, too many problems.

Happy issue is solved! I like Chrome myself.

Sorry Pernilla, I don't seem to have the line break facility when leaving comments here. For instance, while I'm typing this comment, I just don't come up with a line breaker altogether at all.
Have you managed to sort the issue since asking this question?

Hello my lovely friend!!

Yes, my problem was a browser issue. In Chrome everything works just well. No problem with the line break, no strange double jumps.

After the latest Windows update the problems started (both the line break here at WA and the image editing issue in WP).

Now I have to decide if I want to change to Chrome or Firefox.

No I have not had any problems with that before I am sorry I couldn't be more helpful to you

No worries Mary! Thanks for checking my question anyway!

I do believe it is your computer. I work on Macs, so I am not 100% sure how to adjust a PC. But you need to clean out your RAM and defrag your machine if it's a PC.

Found out that this is also a browser issue.
Think I have to abandon Edge and start using Chrome instead.

Hi Pernilla
I don't have that issue, but I do know that Browsers can cause A LOT of trouble. I have used Mozilla Firefox for many years and then a few months ago it just started dragging its feet and slowed my laptop to a screeching halt. Hubby installed Opera for me, and I couldn't believe the difference!
Wishing you all the best!

Opera is amazing and probably the fastest browser.

Hi Wendy
Thank you for confirming that! I believed Hubby when he said, and I couldn't believe the speed, but I thought it was just that I got so used to Firefox that was dragging its feet. It is good to know that others have a similar experience/impression of Opera. ;-)
Wishing you an awesome week Wendy!

For single line spacing hold the Shift key and press Enter.

Hello again Marion!!
Thanks for your support!

It can't be that because I use to use shift+ enter, but now it's jumping really strange. I don't have any issue on Outlook, Gmail, Word etc. Only here at the WA threads.

Just this very moment it came in my mind why don't check in the Chrome browser (like with the image issue in WP). You know what, there I don't have the problem with the strange line jumps.

One more problem solved! Have to start use the chrome browser or do some sort of renewed update of the Edge browser, I suppose.

as I wrote on the other post, I never use edge and if I want to check on an issue with Chrome I use Firefox as a test browser (and to be honest I used Explorer until they took it away even though it had many problems)

Thanks Steven for telling what browser you use.
Have to do like you do.

there are others but these 2 seem to be the most stable (the kids who are all techie will tell you they use Chrome because it's the fastest and most versatile )
Reply

Yes, this techie kid uses Chrome in the main and Firefox to test stuff. When I'm desperate, er when I want to see what others may see, I check in Edge and an old Internet Explorer.

wow! a MS Windows update removed my Explorer altogether and replaced it with Edge. I'm not fond of Edge for some reason.

Ditto on the Edge observation. I've got Internet Explorer 11. I can't remember where I found it but I installed it recently because my laptop is only 3 months old.

I only use it to see what other people may see. There are some peeps still using Internet Explorer.

Be careful when you do a Windows update it may remove Explorer without asking you.

The fact that the kids use Chrome is one of the reasons our schools were able to move to Chromebooks for 1-to-1 initiatives in addition to the low cost, of course, virtually freezing out Apple. But the Chrome OS is not fully baked and people generally don't understand that Google docs and apps for education are web pages and not applications.

With Windows 10 I have no control over the updates. Microsoft has taken control of the world!

Bwahahaha.

Well, if not the world, then at least my computer.

You can schedule when an update takes place I never tried to make it my call but it might be possible. About a week ago I did the big spring Windows update and an update to the update today. They both took a while and there were a number of enhancements to Edge.

And that big update broke one of my video drivers so my computer didn't recognize my 2nd monitor until I updated the driver.

Thing is that even though you can choose the timing of the updates (to a certain extent) you can't stop them from happening.

I've got a long list of complaints about Microsoft. Better I don't get started :)

Under Updates Settings Advanced you can pause updates for 35 days and you can turn off automatic update downloads which gives you a little more control. But eventually you have to update.

I hear you but Apple is no better at twice the price.

you want to be like my wife? in 4 yrs she has never done an update to her Samsung phone and it's time for a new one.

I can really join in on these complaints, Marion.

Interesting discussion!!

My husband turned off the automatic update in February after the disaster with the Windows update in January. Had to reset the computer 4 times! The other day we suddenly had an automatic Window update despite the turned off automatic update!

This lead to all these issues I'm dealing with now. Why didn't I realize that in the first place?

This was a big update including new functionality. Have you done the second update (the update to the update)?

In the end, you have to do the updates there is no real way around it and it's needed for security improvements.

Me, I have not had any problems with the updates. My only problem is that Chrome crashes on me every so often but it's manageable.

Ouch!

Pernilla Premium
You are right Steven.
Have to do the updates.
I'm just a bit worried that the computer will "freeze" and we have to set up the computer once again - and losing files etc.
